Can you replace the carb and make it dual fuel?

I'm in a similar boat to you and ended up getting a WEN with 4000 watts. The problem with the smaller models is they only have 1800-2000w max running power, and once you start adding things it's just too close for comfort. I would rather have extra wattage and not need it.

Also, even though it's the least efficient way to stay warm, if you want to be able to run a heater that's 1500w by itself. I wanted something that could run all my essentials + a heater when necessary.
It's probably not overkill - I purchased this generator to run an airconditioner through hurricaine Ian in Florida, and it actually had significant trouble starting a 10K btu airconditioner that was well within even the starting watts. (3K starting)
The problem seems to be that even with eco mode off these inverter generators tend to throttle down to save fuel. The generator would not ramp up fast enough to provide the starting watts for the AC , and while the generator would stay running the AC would kick off.
The only way I could get the AC to start was to run a heavy load (I used a hairdryer) that I would turn on, and as soon as I could hear the generator start to labor from the draw of the AC I would switch it off.

I probably should have returned it on account of this, but I did like the other features remote start , etc and much cheaper than a Honda.

This model has a known problem with the choke, but it can apparently be fixed pretty quick, here's a video I used for mine.

You'd also need the LP connection and switchover valve.

Part of the description indicates LP, but it's gasoline.
LP is great for longer use.

Actually most all electric heaters are nearly 100% efficient. However, I would agree they are not the most practical way to produce heat when running on generator. As there are plentiful ways for the average person to generate heat but a much more limited number of ways to generate electricity.

"Nearly 100% efficient", in terms of 1 watt of electricity going in=1 watt of heat created. But "creating" heat is inherently inefficient. Heat pumps can be over 500% efficient under the right circumstances: add five watts of heat to a room for every 1 watt of electricity. So the earlier comment was correct, space heaters are generally among the least efficient ways to heat a room. (Unless it's absolutely frigid outside, like 10 degrees or lower.)

Would be ideal if it only had a 240V output (transfer switch ready).
That would be convenient for 240v. I originally bought a Wen GN875i open frame inverter, 240v 7kW running. I need 240v for our grinder pump (sewer) but not much else. The open frame gen is loud so I bought this iGen4500 to cover most of my needs when 240v is not needed. It is much quieter and easier on fuel. I just use a x-y combined cable to combine both legs of my panel so I can run what I need for 120v only when using the igen4500. Having two generators also gives me redundancy in case one fails. Genmax makes a 5500w closed inverter with 240v which may be a good option for some.

Just bought this when it was $683, and Amazon used to refund difference, not any more 😐
Don't feel too bad… I paid $700 early this year.

You can't return these to amazon. Only exchange if defective or arrive damaged, so buyer beware.

I was torn between this and the champion that was posted recently, but since I already have a westinghouse iGen 2200 and the price dropped I went with this so I could parallel them both for 6,700 starting and 5,500 running watts if needed.

Thanks for posting this OP. Really good price, within $10 of the lowest I'd seen.
Glad this deal worked out for you. The other thing that I like about this model versus other 4500w closed inverters is the larger fuel tank. Less fill-ups and should easily run through the night.

Isnt dual-fuel the way to go now? Or at least propane as the most efficient/quiet?

Yeah, I think it's still a good deal but $585 is better.

So you're saying that heat pumps break the laws of physics... That's good to know. We should really tell the appropriate people and not keep this information stuck on SD forums.

If you need one, don't think, just buy this one... its a very solid genny at a awesome price. I have 2 westinghouse gennys and they both still run like new. one of them is over 10 years old.

Champion was on sale in Sept for $518. It should come around again. Slightly less running watts but seems to be better rated. Anyone see a reason to get this Westinghouse over the Champion (other than having to wait for Champion price)?

Probably not ideal, but you can buy 2 and parallel them with the kit for 50 amp
