I am not sure about HP desktop quality. I am posting this for possible reconfiguration of this computer. The deal is at the following link:

https://www.costco.com/.product.1..._pre-t-day

Intel 12th Generation i7-12700F
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060Ti
Memory (RAM)16 GB
ModelTG02-0187c
Operating System: Windows 11
Special OfferMcAfee Total Protection 1
SSD 512 GB

I was configuring my 2nd build with similar specs. i7-12700F costs about $330 and 3060ti about $600. So, those parts may justify purchaing the computer for parts. This computer has 500W bronze gold PSU. The memory can be upgraded to 32Gb.

I would like to hear other builders' opinion about this. Of course, if you are not a builder, I think this system can satisfy most of your gaming and working needs.

That's the basic rule of mine too. I was thinking about salvaging only the CPU, GPU, the SSD (for storage), and possibly the memory stick. (Motherborad? of course not.)
If not, I think the system might be still a good deal for most users.

Why? Parts are not welded together. You can disassemble this PC to individual components.

Even though BIOS may be proprietary then CPU, GPU, SSD, RAM and Power Supply are ok for transplant or resale.

Seems like a good deal. Don't think I've seen 3060TI's under $1k. I'm still gonna hold on longer see if anything better comes up
Just hope it doesn't come back and bite me and get stuck with a 3050 for holding on too long

CPU, GPU is fine, SSD, not so fine, it's only 512, that's like $30, you can get an enclosure for like $15 and have a $45ish external SSD. Memory, possibly, but only if the motherboard is compatible.

Overall, yes, the CPU is about $300ish, but the GPU even evga RTX 3070 B-stock is about $500ish, and most people haven't had issues with B-stock. I'm currently still using a 1060 B-stock from ages ago to run games and it's still a trooper.

And nobody is (or SHOULD) by parts scavenged out of your computer for retail of new parts they can actually return or get warranty on.

Good luck if the GPU you took out of that HP has issues and they have to call HP.

The crazy mining days are past which caused GPUs to resell for 3x retail.

I don't know why this isn't getting more thumbs.

It's proprietary parts but it's all warrantied and you can upgrade the memory, drives, and probably get a 5060ti in there down the road.

Cooling probably sucks so leave the side panel off.

I bought a 2018 HP Ryzen 7 2700 / RX580 and added an rtx2060, nvme, ssd, and hdd and the thing has run like a champ on its 400 watt psu.

Upgradability is great but I'm at the point where i'm just gonna buy a new system every five years and give the old ones to my family or sell as a whole system rather than parts.

I doubt this thing has a large enough power supply for future generation graphics cards. Probably running 600 watts.

I was unsure about running a 2060 on this 400w psu with a 2700, hdd, ssd, nvme, dvd drive, and about ten usb devices and here we are four years later and its been rock solid.

Sure you won't be able to upgrade to an 3080 without replacing the psu but how about a 5060ti?

Why don't people act this way about cars?

"I can't replace the engine so it's junk."

You can probably reuse the CPU, GPU, and SSD. Most people building want to know the RAM timing and this is unknown. Power supply is more than likely proprietary and under powered. The motherboard and case is just e-waste you have to deal with.

The question is can you buy the CPU and GPU new for $1000. Striping the parts out voids the HP warranty unless you're willing to store all the waste parts and go to the trouble of putting everything back together to make a warranty claim.

Buying a CPU and GPU comes with a warranty. Striping this for parts not so much.

https://pcpartpicker.com list the cpu ($300), gpu ($430), and ssd ($40) at $769 total. I don't see how buying this for $1,000 is better.

$430 now. $465 in a few days. Well below $1000.
