I have the original oculus and it was ok, but kinda meh. Haven't used in 1.5 years and honestly, had a lot more fun when Wii came out lol.

Is this Quest 2 that much better or pretty similar?
Not sure what model you have when you say "original oculus" but as an owner of the Rift S, Quest 1, and Quest 2, the Quest 2 brings a lot to the table. It is not a perfect headset, but it improves on the Quest 1 in so many ways that my Quest 1 is pretty much mothballed. The main thing for me is the weight difference on your face - the Quest 2 with a battery pack attached to an aftermarket strap balances it out quite well, and I can play for 2-3 hours.

Being able to play standalone or PCVR games - wired OR wirelessly - is huge. My Rift S mainly only gets looked at for driving or flying sims due to the wires. I'm a little spoiled having choices - but the Quest 2 is still my main headset. I actually got one for my wife and kid so we can all VR together.

That said, this is still not a cheap purchase. I'd ask myself if I plan to play VR games at all period. If you haven't used your headset in 1.5 years is it because of the hardware (PC specs or the headset) or no interest in VR games? There are a TON of great titles that have come out since then, so I would recommend checking out what's available on Steam for PCVR and also the Meta store for standalone to decide if the library is enticing enough that you want to jump back in.

Hopefully this helps, but no matter what, have a great day! Cheers!

Your friendly neighborhood spideyrider.

Can you sell the game vouchers that come with it or are they locked to your account? Not really interested in RE4 since this would be a Christmas present for a kid.

Does anyone know if the game vouchers for Beat Saber and RE are included in the box or is it the situation where new hardware activations will be offered to activate both games?

Here is some of the fine print from the meta store page, though they sort of comingled the info about RE4 and Beat Saber so please check out the meta store for the full deets at the bottom of the page with the offer.

TLDR: Seems there are no game codes, need to redeem shortly after purchase, one per account, offer void in Tennessee.

Quote :
Redemption code only valid for purchase of Resident Evil 4 in the Meta Quest Store and expires on 12/31/2023. The approximate value of the Code is $39.99 USD. Limited to one (1) code per transaction. Once code is redeemed, Resident Evil 4 remains available for download even after Code expiration. Beat Saber: Offer valid with the purchase of a new Meta Quest 2 device (128GB or 256GB) ("Qualifying Product") before December 31, 2022 11:59 PM PST and while supplies last. Offer Item (digital content): Beat Saber in the Meta Quest Store (approx. retail value $29.99). Additional downloadable content, including future music packs and other content, sold separately.

To receive Offer Item, Qualifying Product must be first activated before January 31, 2023 11:59 PM PST through an Account without Beat Saber entitlement previously enabled on such account ("Activation"). Upon Activation, you will receive a notification message via email, in your mobile app, and in VR with a link to redeem the Offer Item from the Meta Quest Store.

There are no redemption codes in connection with this Offer.

Offer Item must be redeemed within 14 days upon Activation.

Once redeemed, Offer Item remains available for download indefinitely.

Limit of one (1) Offer Item per Qualifying Product, regardless of the number of Accounts connected to such Qualifying Product. Qualifying Products first activated through an Account with Beat Saber entitlement previously enabled are ineligible to receive Offer Item.

I just posted a reply to someone else with a similar question - it doesn't look like there are any codes to resell. Check out my previous post for more info.

And yeah, RE4 might not be too kid friendly laugh out loudPeace

Save your money. The gimmick wears off quick. Bought last year for $250 or whatever the sale was had for 2 weeks and then resold. Is it really cool the first time you use it— hell yeah. But once that goes away you see the flaws and will want a new more advanced model that addresses them, like controls, tracking, and most of all graphics.
You don't need a new model yet. Just use it with a PC and that solves your graphics issue. Tracking is pretty good as is

There are a few reasons that one would do so (I did not). The two main reasons are that this same setup (for the most part) was $50 less earlier this year, before Meta raised the price to $400. Second, some of us actually OWN this very setup and find it to be overpriced. Warning: you will most probably have to put a chunk of change into upgrading the headset to get it to where it is more useable.

FWIW, I bought the 128 GB headset about 6 months ago. I put about $200 into accessories such as a BoboVR M2 Pro headset. I have a LOT of titles ... and have not turned it on in about 4 weeks. IF, and I mean IF you want to try VR, do not buy. Find a friend who has a headset and try it out for an hour or more before you invest the $500+ that is needed for a quality experience. You can buy a PS5 for what you are about to spend on this headset ...
I feel what a lot of people who say this are missing is that this is a more fun peloton. Lost 10lbs already just playing games

Thanks for the insights. I am hesitant to pull the trigger for this very reason, but do you think kids will enjoy it longer or do you think they will get bored of it as well (in a short period of time)?
Judging from the sheer number of kids online, they do not. As a group, they're the only ones who understand the metaverse while everyone else is like get off my lawn

How can you return this item if you don't like it, when you have promos for the games? Wanna try the system but if it makes me dizzy or something, I'd return it

FWIW, these are widely available on the secondary marketplaces (FB, CL, etc). Lots of people seem to buy it new and discover they don't like it. I picked up a basically new 128GB version for $125 including upgraded headstrap and some other goodies. If you want to go new, this seems like a reasonable deal but you can save 70%+ off of this price for a nearly new version.

This is better than the original $300 price for anyone who was planning to get beat saber and RE4 which retails for $30 and $40 respectively. Would have been $370 before the price increase vs. $350 on this bundle deal.

Not ideal but better than nothing.

Edit: typo
But if you hack it you dont need to buy jack, just saying. Its not even all that hard either
