Being able to play standalone or PCVR games - wired OR wirelessly - is huge. My Rift S mainly only gets looked at for driving or flying sims due to the wires. I'm a little spoiled having choices - but the Quest 2 is still my main headset. I actually got one for my wife and kid so we can all VR together.
That said, this is still not a cheap purchase. I'd ask myself if I plan to play VR games at all period. If you haven't used your headset in 1.5 years is it because of the hardware (PC specs or the headset) or no interest in VR games? There are a TON of great titles that have come out since then, so I would recommend checking out what's available on Steam for PCVR and also the Meta store for standalone to decide if the library is enticing enough that you want to jump back in.
Hopefully this helps, but no matter what, have a great day! Cheers!
Your friendly neighborhood spideyrider.

Is this Quest 2 that much better or pretty similar?

I just ordered 4 headsets yesterday from Amazon.
I returned them and ordered 4 more for cheaper and with games.
Here is some of the fine print from the meta store page, though they sort of comingled the info about RE4 and Beat Saber so please check out the meta store for the full deets at the bottom of the page with the offer.
TLDR: Seems there are no game codes, need to redeem shortly after purchase, one per account, offer void in Tennessee.
To receive Offer Item, Qualifying Product must be first activated before January 31, 2023 11:59 PM PST through an Account without Beat Saber entitlement previously enabled on such account ("Activation"). Upon Activation, you will receive a notification message via email, in your mobile app, and in VR with a link to redeem the Offer Item from the Meta Quest Store.
There are no redemption codes in connection with this Offer.
Offer Item must be redeemed within 14 days upon Activation.
Once redeemed, Offer Item remains available for download indefinitely.
Limit of one (1) Offer Item per Qualifying Product, regardless of the number of Accounts connected to such Qualifying Product. Qualifying Products first activated through an Account with Beat Saber entitlement previously enabled are ineligible to receive Offer Item.
I just posted a reply to someone else with a similar question - it doesn't look like there are any codes to resell. Check out my previous post for more info.
And yeah, RE4 might not be too kid friendly
kid wants one, I kinda do too, but I know nothing about them. Can they be locked to a FB account and I'll end up buying a paperweight?

FWIW, I bought the 128 GB headset about 6 months ago. I put about $200 into accessories such as a BoboVR M2 Pro headset. I have a LOT of titles ... and have not turned it on in about 4 weeks. IF, and I mean IF you want to try VR, do not buy. Find a friend who has a headset and try it out for an hour or more before you invest the $500+ that is needed for a quality experience. You can buy a PS5 for what you are about to spend on this headset ...

Not ideal but better than nothing.
