just be aware these shelves are made of particle board, so if you live anywhere humid (like Louisiana...) and you leave this outside, the shelves will warp and deteriorate over time.

Nice deal. This style with holds up quite well vs some of the other rail/post designs. Looks like other sizes are on sale if you need something bigger as well.

Have three in garage and two in basement for 4-5 years now that still look new.

48x18x72 $79.87 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Muscle...hbdg=L1300

Not only that, but they use formaldehyde in the glue/particle board that needs literally about a month of horrendous off-gassing. I have two and would never buy these type again. You want the shelves that are coated in melamine, which prevents the off-gassing.

I am close to buying either the 48x18x72 or 48x24x72 after I re-measure my garage space... but I also just found the Edsal recall. Should I be concerned enough not to buy?

Sam's has some very nice shelves that are 18" x 48" x 86" that have 6 shelves and thick plastic shelves for $74.49 each. I bought 4 sets last night.

The problem with the 24" width is that your garage door sticks out 18" from the side and 24" will cut down on your space to park your car and the necessary room to get in and out of your car.

I have had a couple of these with the particle board shelves for about 5 years now and although kept inside my metal building, all the shelves have started to sag in the middle. Some more than others depending on weight but none have broken yet.

This is junk. Flimsy, unstable and hard to assemble.
That's not very helpful lol... They're simple to assemble.. It's literally just hammering the pieces together.. Theyre much more sturdy than the plastic and hold more than enough weight for most people.. It's around 1000 lbs per level if you get the largest one...

I would be happy to elaborate on his comment. The rivets holding the upper and lower units together do not extend far enough out. This makes it very difficult to assemble and also causes the shelf to wobble once assembled. Also this brand is notorious for not including all of the required parts. All of these things come down to quality control. It is possible you will not have this experience, but it is common. Also, as others have mentioned the shelves are made of particle board and will not last in humid conditions, so you will need to be cautious of that or replace the shelves with plywood to be functional. The selling point of plastic shelves is their ease of assembly, with the trade off being their weight capacity. That is not a fair comparison. When comparing these shelves to a similar item they are flimsy and hard to assemble. They also are made out of cheap particle board and not durable. Likely why they are on sale..

bought 3 of these last year and was pretty disappointed with them.

1. not very sturdy (vertically) because the posts are in 2 shorter pieces (Not a single piece).
2. they wobble A LOT
3. the pieces that connect the 2 pieces of the vertical support posts were missing on all of the units. had to contact the manufacturer to send them out.
4. the particle board shelves are also very thin. ended up replacing with a better quality wire shelving.
