Just got a major buzzkill. Called verizon and apparently if you arent in the NE2 or regular upgrade window, you have to pay full retail for the phone. My window isnt until February so apparently I just got the gift card for naught. Oh well, time to spend it on COD MW2.

Just a heads up to those who were wondering.

Why would they give it to you unless you were do for an upgrade or NE2? People would be getting free and cheap phones all the time if they did that. No cell phone company does that.

Because they dont make money on the phones like they do on the plans and for a basic plan that i have they would make way more when i upgraded to a all everything plan with the droid. It seems the phone made me naive.

actually verizon replaced my voyager i got last december (2008) back in march with an LG Versa for free
I only had to push my upgrade date 2 months later.
Course this is after I got 7 Voyagers that would glitch in the web browser (would reboot the phone randomly). Since i went through 3 of them being right next to the tech in Verizon Store, he was like "well my manager says we can do a 1 time exchange for any phone we got in stock with the same features"
so basically i had the option of anything besides a smartphone/blackberry.
Versa just released at the time, and in terms of "value" of the phone, it was a no brainer.

The wait is KILLING ME! I want one already! I think it should be pretty sick. I played with my friends Hero she just got and the OS is alot more responsive and has some extra windows. Really like it,hopefully this will be better.

maybe a touch faster but i doubt you'll really notice it.. the hero has a 528 mhz processor and the droid has a 600 mhz so you wont notice too much speed difference..

Yea,sorry didnt mean faster,just meant in general. I could really tell the difference from my g1 and touch compared to the Hero. Still force closed once you stated pressing multiple things,but wasn't as bad as the g1. I cant wait to get it.sooooo tired of no real keyboard,Im leaving tmobile for it.

the g1 mytouch and the hero all run on the same processor, the mytouch and hero have a little more memory but thats about the only internal difference

Mytouch is slower then my G1,I don't have many apps on it now b/c I thought it would make it faster. The Sideview transition always lags up and is never as smooth as the hero one was. Hero felt alot faster IMO,maybe bc it was brand new and bare. I dont even run widgets anymore b/c it lags up on me,especially when trying to text and what not./
