If it's crashing there must be some default settings that needs adjustment: Memory timings, most likely. Or the memory might not be seated correctly, or the assembly process left out thermal paste on the processor. Lots of things that could get screwed up.
Given the price it still might be worth pulling the trigger and approaching it like a new build, pulling it apart and reassembling it to make sure it's all correct?
*EDIT* Nevermind- looks like Asus cheaped out on the power supply. Replacing the power supply tacks on enough cost that this is no longer a Slickdeal. Sadface.

why compare a laptop to a desktop; two separate product classes

Adding price to your point doesn't strengthen it; if you were trying to get the cheapest possible laptop then theres several others that of course would compromise build quality or gpu
That said an intel and nvidia in an acre nitro is good value but to compare to a desktop is poor practice when its two different use cases
Perhaps one would want to play 1440p or 4k and on a laptop you are stuck at 1080p; the ram would suffer from it not having it be upgradable since only 1 dimm slot is accessible easily
The wattage on the rtx3060 on laptop is only 95w but on a desktop you can get double at least which will give more FPS at lower 1% frames
Since it has intel it will cook the cooling system before the gpu can even get any performance close to a 3060

Curious on this also. Seems most, but not all, reviews say the PSU is the problem. Price wise, still seems like a good deal even if I have to replace the PSU.

the crashes can be more of the gpu not getting enough wattage since a rtx 3060 is drawing around 200w or could be the cpu needs to be undervolted if it's overclocked from factory
