Just looking at the components this is cheaper than if you built it yourself with the parts.

If it's crashing there must be some default settings that needs adjustment: Memory timings, most likely. Or the memory might not be seated correctly, or the assembly process left out thermal paste on the processor. Lots of things that could get screwed up.

Given the price it still might be worth pulling the trigger and approaching it like a new build, pulling it apart and reassembling it to make sure it's all correct?

*EDIT* Nevermind- looks like Asus cheaped out on the power supply. Replacing the power supply tacks on enough cost that this is no longer a Slickdeal. Sadface.
Looks like a solid deal until you read the reviews. Pass.
I rolled the dice on a crashing one last year for my son and sure enough we got one. Returned it and brought a basic hp gaming desktop that was more reliable

PC noob, so been spending hours on reddit the last few weeks researching parts to build a PC right around this price point. This would save me a lot of trouble since it uses a lot of the parts I was looking at anyways.

I agree the reviews are worrying, but would still be interested in taking a shot if any experts out there have more to chime in on addressing the crashes.
are you hard set on sub 1k? if you have about 1.1k you could get your self a 5700x, 6700xt 1tb ssd with a much better case and cpu cooler and psu and the uncharcted and other two games that also come with the gpu

I see someone mentioned upgrading psu could potentially remedy the crashing issue. Is there any Psu anyone would recommend for this setup?

Any brand will do. 650 watt 80+ gold. Here is an example:

I ordered one. It will be here on the 25th. Will report back when it's setup.

I hope it just works, but I have a spare 800w PSU so if it needs more juice, I have more to give it

So far so good. The text of the OP is wrong, this comes with 3200 ddr4 ram. Power supply is a weak point, and could stand an upgrade, but I haven't had any issues with power yet. Temps have been ok, but could always do better. Overall what comes in the box is quite nice for the cost.

I ordered on Black Friday, shipping was delayed so I received it on Monday. I've set it up and ran a few different CPU and GPU benchmarks and tested a few games at 2560x1080. No issues with temperatures or crashing, but I did notice a few undesirable things:

-plexiglass side isn't flush with the tower making me wonder how much dust will accumulate inside. You can use the metal siding but you lose the aesthetics
-there doesn't appear to be vents on the front. If there is, I couldn't see or feel it
-the tower CPU fan is decent (for the price) but the 5800X can get hot and will throttle at 90C. This shouldn't be an issue while gaming though. The next best cooling solution would be liquid cooling which may bring temps down -10C
-someone mentioned the distance between the PSU and the GPU and while visually it looks close, in practice this has almost no effect on GPU temperature and all is normal. The PSU fans are not facing up
-in the bios it shows two m2 slots but they're both occupied, meaning no additional m2 drive expansion
-the tower only has 1 built in hdd (occupied) and 1 built in ssd slot (unoccupied).
-the tower has a separate Down facing vent for the PSU but due to the slight angle the tower sits at, I can't imagine this vent working that well
-the motherboard is an Asus proprietary hardware (cannot find on pcpartpicker). Nothing wrong with it for what it is but some people like the idea of having a standardized mobo
-as someone else mentioned the ram is actually 3200mhz not 2666

All this said, for the price I paid I think it's a good deal as a pre build for someone who wants a fast computer with gaming option

I haven't used a discrete GPU in years so maybe someone can explain this. I ran geekbench's OpenCL and Vulcan GPU benchmarks and both came out slightly better than a 6700XT which I understand should perform significantly better than a 3060. Is geekbench not reliable/red herring? Cinebench score came out as expected
