I think this is a better laptop. Much faster ram (can't tell if Dell is DDR4 or DDR5), Windows Pro. Both APU won't do enough to make a huge difference. This isn't a gaming rig. But it might in content creation makes use of Ryzen threads and cores

Inspiron is a consumer brand.
Thinkpad is a business brand, with the P series being mobile workstation models.
Completely two different target audiences and build quality/features, but no law that says you can't use either for any purpose of your choosing 😊

Have this. Pitiful battery life with 52.5 WHr. Good otherwise, outside of some odd boot issues here and there. First generation product.

Yeah, I had 2 of these and they have weird boot issues from sleep. They get stuck in hibernate mode. Also, like you said, the 52.5 WHr battery is pathetic. The 86Whr should be better

One deal breaker for Costco's Dell for me is that the screen is 250nit.

I got this a month ago and aside from getting stuck in hibernate mode, it's been great. The 86whr battery was available for sale separately for a couple of weeks but it now appears to be out of stock until Dec. Keyboard and screen quality are excellent and the laptop runs very quiet in everyday use.

So this U series is more portability and less power? But people say the battery is very bad?
