Those are the offerings by Lenovo for this laptop, not the maximum limit. It will even support a 8TB SSD if you add it by yourself. Don't overthink.
And regarding 2280 or 2242, those indicate the dimesion of the SSD. 2280 means 22mm wide and 80mm long and 2242 means 22mm wide and 42mm long. Normally if you have a 2280 sized slot, it will fit the smaller size SSDs as well, like 2242 and 2260.

Deal looks good but don't know if I should wait for a 3070 Ti version to go on a deal. Currently the 3070 Ti one on eBay costs a whopping 300 more before tax (and tax for me was 90 something at checkout). Or maybe the 5i Pro might show up after too. I will wait some more but deal still seemingly good.

What's the difference between 5 pro and 5i pro. The naming convention confuses me.

The 3070 version that has been around $1300 for months needs to be this price, $1100 for a 3060 laptop isn't really a SD to me. Maybe if it was the slim version.

Agree but this might be as good as it gets for BF.

Tempting.....was looking for under ~$800
Slightly on the heavy side at 5.5lbs., but it's a gaming laptop not an Ultralight portable (trade-off).
If anyone is interested on specs:

I bought my 3070 version almost a year ago for ~$1300.

Fantastic laptop: great screen, decent keyboard, ports galore. It's been a real productivity workhorse for me, and then I can wind down with some games.

Screen resolution on Lenovo better at: WQHD+ (2560 x 1600) vs. Asus 2560 x 1440 (QHD)
Lenovo 500 nits display 100% RGB vs. Asus Strix measured 280 nits of brightness
RAM on Lenovo is DDR5 vs. DDR4-3200 Asus
Weight advantage Asus 5.29lbs vs. Lenovo 5.49lbs.
AMD Radeon RX 6800M vs. GTX 3060 may be mute, but I'd have to compare.

I like the build better on Lenovo, screen is better, and DDR5

Asus review for comparison:
https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...n-rx-6800m

Found at least a Lenovo 5i pro (2022) review:
https://www.ultrabookreview.com/5...view-2022/
But final comments state:
At this point, I do have somewhat higher hopes for the 2022 AMD-based Legion 5 Pro that should be available at some point as well. If priced right, perhaps that might be enough to justify going with the 2022 model, as a better-balanced mix of performance, runtimes, and pricing, even if it won't match the CPU capabilities of this Intel model. But even that one is going to have a hard time outmatching the overall value proposition of the 2021 Legion 5 Pro

For those considering their hard earned $1k - Asus G15 (not the Acer Helios 300)

That was the last generation model with 5800H, DDR4, Gen 3 SSD and no USB4 support. This year's model with RTX 3070 was never been at $1300 price point. Even the cheapest price for that model was over $1400.

Not a bad deal by any means, however at this exact price or lower I've seen other laptops include a 3070 or 6800(s). Either way, you won't be disappointed with the purchase
