As Per lenovo Platform Specification document: One of USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 on left can be upgraded to USB4® 40Gbps via BIOS update after June 28th, 2022.

Those are the offerings by Lenovo for this laptop, not the maximum limit. It will even support a 8TB SSD if you add it by yourself. Don't overthink.
And regarding 2280 or 2242, those indicate the dimesion of the SSD. 2280 means 22mm wide and 80mm long and 2242 means 22mm wide and 42mm long. Normally if you have a 2280 sized slot, it will fit the smaller size SSDs as well, like 2242 and 2260.
That was the last generation model with 5800H, DDR4, Gen 3 SSD and no USB4 support. This year's model with RTX 3070 was never been at $1300 price point. Even the cheapest price for that model was over $1400.

I tend to agree. Ideally this would be a 3070 at this price. We could still see one pop on/before BF that is. I've been shopping for a gaming laptop for a couple of months now and this is probably the best Legion Pro deal so far. Outside of some totally YMMV clearance stock at random Walmarts these Legion Pro's just never seem to drop below a certain price point. I nearly jumped on the Helios deal for $999, but I think overall this unit for $100 more I'd say is better.
This may sell out like the Helios did. I might buy it and sit on it with the extended holiday window and see if a better deal breaks before Christmas.

Maybe if it were around 1150. Above 1200 should have 3070 Ti or better to be a good deal imo. Iove the legions but sell so expensive. I wish the manufacturers would give us options to purchase without the replaceable parts for a cheaper cost. Like I don't mind buying without a disk and OS or even RAM but with better graphics card or processor etc. But the prices definitely could and should be even better with sales.

Was $1299.99 until today. Very good specs and build, after watching some comparisons on YouTube, went for the Acer Predator Helios 300. The Acer seems to have a better experience all around then the Lenovo. If you do get this laptop from Walmart, highly recommend getting the 3 year extended warranty, is very affordable and well worth the peace of mind.
Acer Predator Helios 300 that was $999 at BB: may have the best thermals, one of the highest power delivery to cpu and gpu, but only 1080P 16:9 and 300ish nits, 5.5hrs battery life light loads, better silent fan profile than Legion (which is more audible), good build but lid has flex. Very fast gen4 ssd. Only one with tb4 and egpu support.
This Legion: very good thermals, high power delivery, very good higher resolution 16:10 display 500 nits 100% srgb, maybe 7 hrs battery light work, decent fan profiles with hotkeys, best buuld and no lid flex, good extended warranty options.
Asus g15 strix AE $1099 @ BB: good thermals but maybe not as go9d as the other 2, higher res display than helios, but 16:9, decent fan profiles but could be the potentially loudest on high perf, 10 hrs on l9ght work, 100% dci-p3 300-350nits. Only gen3 ssd. 6800m may be faster than 3060 and closer to between 3070 and 3080. 12gb vram vs 6gb, high power delivery. New batches should have liquid metal issue and sother issues worked out. Slow ram with single rank memory may be addressed on some batches. For video editing the amd dgpu may not be as performant as nvidia with cuda. Also no dlss or raytracing.
I went with the strix for the color gamut, battery life and competitive gpu. Really wanted tb4 and egpu support for longevity but realistically may never do the egpu and the pros outweighed the lack of tb4 for my use case.
I would say 1000-1100 is the new everyday price for this range. What is best will depend on which strengths you value most.

Got mine from the exchange website for military personnel. The CPU is 11th Gen core i7, not the 12th generation and DDR4 Ram. Upgraded the ram to 32gb and added a 2nd m2 drive. No problems with it so far.
Lenovo makes outstanding laptops. If you can get the deal, it's a rock solid. Besides, if ever need to call Lenovo for support, unlike Dell, Lenovo support team knows how to fix issues
