You should have reached out to Ring. I reached out last week since a small crack developed on the ring button itself. Ring sent me a brand new doorbell pro even though mine was four years old. Amazing customer service! Granted I pay $100 a year for the security service and have a spotlight camera all on my account. I'll be looking to switch things up when the annual fee goes up to $20 a month in 2025, but until then I am grandfathered into the "older" plan.

I second that. It is a real surprise when you buy something and did not realize there was a subscription fee. Everything seems to be wanting to go to a subscription .... razor blades, ink cartridges, fitness center, steaming media.. even with commercials, everyone has their hand out every month.... hey even my wife and kids . I can see why it is so hard to budget.

I was using the original doorbell pro for 4 years and it finally died yesterday. Totally dead and unresponsive. It is southwest facing so it gets a lot of sun and the button cover deteriorated. I was planning on replacing it since the subscription plans were going from $30/yr to $40/yr so I replaced it with a Wyze video doorbell which I actually like better and it's a lot cheaper. It's a lot shorter though.

I did like the smarter motion detection which Ring is known for. It weeded out false positives and liked the neighbor app where people can share videos and notices about breakins and bad behavior (people looking like they were exercising but checking trunk doors to see if they were locked). I wish the neighbor app would allow a separate doorbell ditching section so we can see how many homes these pack of kids hit because they don't allow it at all.

At least when I canceled my plan they pro-rated me the refund.

Yep! I have a Ring Pro. It's worthless without subscription. They should be giving these away. They'd still make money on them.

Get the Pro 2. It may cost twice the amount but it actually works. You can actually talk to someone at your door with the Pro 2. With the original Pro the audio was always breaking up and my router is just 6 feet behind the door. So you can pay $99 for the original Pro on sale now and have a useless doorbell or pay more and have something that actually works.

If you have a wired setup for your existing doorbell, then I recommend the Ring wired instead. Only $40.

That's exactly what just happened to me too. I noticed a crack develop on the button cover and now months later it became unresponsive. My doorbell faces east so it gets sun for half of the day

Whoa, I need to see when I bought mine. How did you contact them?

The plastic button on mine cracked over a year ago and figured they wouldn't replace it since it's out of warranty. Thanks
