incredible
Depends on what you want to do with it. Don't run many apps at once? This is great. Battery life is wonderful.

if you have microcenter credit card .. will get extra 5% off which brings down to $741 … which is lowest
Additionally, I was not going to be doing any graphic intensive tasks like editing videos so MBA works great for me.
Smart to have extended warranty - Macs in general are painfully expensive to fix without.
Notebookcheck.net has the reviews of most M1/M2 models for comparison.
That said, price is still so high that it doesn't even motivate a thread unless you add the Microcenter credit card discount.
That said, if you just want a cheap Mac to play around with, an old i5 Macbook would be perfectly fine for basic use.
Sometimes I think everyone believes they need the latest Mac to do any video editing; that's not the case. Professional studios used horsepower significantly less than even the simplest i5 Macbook laptops if you go far back enough in time, and they managed just fine.
That said, I like my MBP14", and at $1599, I recommend it to any who ask.
1. performance, it will allow you to edit videos and add effects a lot faster, almost instantaneously (watch a few youtube videos for yourself)
2. battery life and fan noise/heat. Intel macbooks don't last very long for battery life and overheat/throttle limiting/slowing down performance.
3. support/features. Apple has been recently cutting off support for older intel machines with their OS updates and the older the machine, the less support + new features you will lose in the near future.
Watch a few youtube videos comparing the M1 vs intel and read a few articles online about them.
You'll thank me later.
