You'll get charged the full price + taxes when making the order with a trade-in online. When you go in-store to pick up the new phone and trade in your old phone, they'll refund you the difference and with that, your taxes will also be adjusted according to the final price.

Source: I traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 7 a month ago at Best Buy.

I have a slightly cracked Pixel 6 that I bought last year. Now instead of getting it repaired for $150-180, this is a sweet deal. Will the bb rep let go of a slight crack on my screen edge for trade-in ??
