I activated the SIM after receiving my Straight Talk iPhone 11. Calls, text, and data worked for me when I tested it in an unlocked phone. I don't know if you can do anything with an unactivated SIM, but I plan to port this new number out after 30 days.

2) iCloud is a feature on iPhone that a user sets up. This will always be unlocked by default when buying from a store.
