You'll get charged the full price + taxes when making the order with a trade-in online. When you go in-store to pick up the new phone and trade in your old phone, they'll refund you the difference and with that, your taxes will also be adjusted according to the final price.

Source: I traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 7 a month ago at Best Buy.

I just took out the phone, rubbed hand on it to look like it was used and then took it, i did not even turn it on.

Do they let you transfer data in store? I'm actually trying to trade in my daily driver and not being able to do it by mail sounds like a massive pain in the ass.

do you have a pc? you better off start everything new on android phone. Copy all your photos, doc...to pc. Re-download all apps from play store.
