I imagine these are as garbage as the last generation and not worth the $50 they cost. Always been very disappointed in the performance of these things.

You can't expect iPad performance at these prices. My kids have found the 2020 fire 10 to most snappy and don't complain about it being slow. Roblox particularly is tough on the smaller/older ones

Any possible chance of installing stock Android on these? How do you get the actually price to show, do you have to trade in first?

This is the latest generation, released less than two months ago.

I opted for the Plus version which is $10 more.

I did also use my Amex reward offer for 40% off so that made it sweeter at about $40.

Are you sure about 20% off of list? That's not how my Nov. 2nd order worked... Does that work on the fire 10? Any chance you can post a screenshot of the discount on the 10 in your cart?

Yeah my experience with fire tablets isn't great. I almost want to buy this one just to see if they fixed any of the myriad of issues.

My guess is Amazon is going to have fire sales on these fire tabs for the rest of the year. I wonder if the department who makes them gets axed in the layoffs.

No, but the Fire OS does allow the side loading of non Amazon store apps.. For that price you are going to have to deal with an Amazon GUI for home screen.

This or the Fire HD 10 (since it has faster processor) for $20 more? I'll only be using this for Web browsing and streaming movies. I like the Fire HD 8 form factor, but don't want to replace it in a couple of years due to the slowness. TIA

Anyone know if (after side loading the play store) you can install and decently run ProCore (blue print app)? I could use this for work on the job site instead of my small phone screen.

No, the use of list price for trade ins ended a few months ago. It's done the normal way now.

I have 4 kids- and have gotten these for them in years past. (Upgraded in 2021 with that version). I personally have a basic entry level iPad for my tablet- but wasn't interested in spending $300 x 4 kids for something they will beat on and drop.
For my boys ages 5-10 for Roblox, Minecraft, etc these are more than adequate. Are they a little buggy sometimes, sure, but you simply can't beat these price points. With a decent $10 case these have a solid couple year lifespan- and can be traded in at end of life for a discount on your upgrade.
I really like these HD-8's for kids use (and I'm cheap so I don't pay for Amazon kids- we just download our own games and run those for free).

it's changed, i got a discount of 20% of $150 on a hd10 in july - now i'm seeing only $13 for the hd8 plus. so 20% of the final actual price. bummer.
