compared these with the other Asics shoes in Kohls recently .
The soft padding around the ankle is inferior .
Generally felt like a cardboard covered with soft cloth
the sole is hard and felt plasticky

The Venture 8s are good

Confirmed the trail shoes have harder soles for the outdoors. I bought some recently and returned because of this. Maybe try Venture 8,

Can't tell much about these, but going by other comments and my own experience - Venture 8 seems a better choice. I'm on my 5th pair and they've been pretty sturdy and comfortable for trail running
