bought at same price about a year ago and are my daily shoes...very comfortable but a few threads/stitches coming apart which i have never really noticed on my previous daily wear shoes (typically new balance).
I like Asics shoes and have bought several pairs (including these), but the damn pull loops on the back always tear out even when trying to be careful.
for wide footers, what is the 4E width like? too wide? Stick to 2E?
Thanks
I disagree with the other two people. It depends on if you're actually using these for running or not. If you're just using them as casual shoes, I'd probably go 4E. If you're using them for running, you probably would want a less loose fitting shoe. Asics are very comfortable shoes, I always buy 4E for my casual shoes, but I actually bought the regular Medium width for my Asics. They are a little snug compared to my regular shoes, but when I am running I don't even notice really.
With that said, It's rare that you'd actually ever get 2E as an option. Shoes usually come in D or 4E only.
If you're not looking for shoes to run with, I'd probably stick to New Balance. A little more stylish IMO, and the wides are nice for dailies. For running, I'd go with Asics cuz they fit more like a glove than mitten.

My feet are size 8.5 with ~4 inch width. I find most brands' 4E size a bit too loose. 2E would be ideal. But, 2E size is difficult to find in general, especially on sale. It's far easier to buy in regular width then stretch them out to size with shoe stretchers. Shoe stretchers are one of the best things I purchased.
WIth my last two asics (GT-1000 3 and Air Nimbus), I just purchased them in regular size. They seem to stretch out by themselves as I broke them in. I didn't have to use my shoe stretchers.

Are you sure? My Contend 7 has no loops and I don't see any in the pics above.
I didn't like my Contends and went back to the Venture 7.

Every pair of Asics I've had have a loop in the back to help pull on the shoe. It's a flat ribbon barely secured into the heel of the shoe. I've had three of them pull out on me including my most recent pair (Gel Sonoma 7) after a few weeks. I wasn't yanking hard on them either.
