Damn, didn't realize they use those in home UPS products.

Upon researching the topic though (wanted a UPS for a home server) I discovered that even the top-rated 1500VA Sinewave units, from both APC and CyberPower, have issues with fire hazard, foul smell, annoying high-pitched noise (probably coil whine), etc.
Literally the top rated models.
I don't know what to buy now. The thought of an acid-lead battery catching fire is not reassuring.
