Probably the N4020, despite having 25% the cores/threads. Faster single-threaded, better Linux application compatibility than ARM.

Anyone know if win 10 will load to the celeron version? I know it'd be slow but it's more than enough for what I would use it for.

I have the 4020 it is quite fast I had a different 8183 and it was slow.

You are limited to 10 tabs or so due to the DDR. It (4020) also ran an external monitor 1080P just fine the 8183 did not it was limited to 24hz.

I have the 8183 and it's a little pokey. The screen, sound, and 64GB were all better than the Acer it replaced.

Any android app compatibility issues with the N4020 since it's not ARM?

I just ordered the MT8183 version. Benchmarks tend to be better (because of 8 cores vs 2 cores). I guess it depends if the Chromebook OS is optimized for multi-core, and how many things you will run at once on a Chromebook (probably not many).

I have another Celeron Chromebook with an even slower processor from a couple Christmases ago, and it still works great. I don't know how they do it but Chromebook OS seems to be amazingly efficient.

This video [youtube.com] shows a quick side-by-side of the N4020 and MT8183 performance

The Intel is slightly faster at everything. The Mediatek potentially gets better battery life. I think the bigger advantage of the Intel is the ability to run x86 Linux apps. I have an ARM-based Lenovo Duet and it can't run a lot of modern linux apps because the Debian repo doesn't have any recent packages available.

Like others have said, the MT8183 is very slow and lags a lot for me. I have the Lenovo 10e tablet with same specs and can't really use it for much other than watching YouTube vids. Can't really multitask with it. You can easily feel how laggy it is because the touchscreen becomes unresponsive.

My 4020 laptop in comparison is much much better. Only needed to buy it because the MT8183 was much worse than I imagined.

The C4020 is a much faster cpu even though it's 8 cores vs 2 cores. The MT8183 maxes out at 2ghz and freezes often. The C4020 can burst up to 2.8ghz and even when it's running at 100% cpu usage, it usually won't freeze up until you max out the ram too. Otherwise, it's very usable most of the time. It's not fast by any means but I appreciate the fact it slows down rather than gọing completely unresponsive.

Check out the many past threads about the Lenovo 10e Chromebook with MT8183. Reviews were bad and I found out the hard way how weak the cpu actually is.
