Any opportunity to put a smaller diameter wheel on your car to save on tires?

I took my '15 Sienna from 18" to 17" (the only OEM sizes), '13 ES300h from 17" to 16" (because the Avalon platform on which it is based supported 16"), '06 Beetle down from 18" to 15" (because the ancient Golf platform on which it was build had supported 15"). As a bonus, you will likely get marginal improvements in mileage. Just stop trying to pull those Fast & Furious corners...

Good luck!

You are missing the point. The tire that I need is more than $110, so buy 3 get 1 free is a better deal for me.

I don't get this. Pricing the same Goodyear tires (with the $210 off) is still way cheaper if you get the same 4 tires at Walmart. What am I missing here? How is this a slick deal?
Not sure how did you do that, since Walmart is generally the same price as Discount Tire with incompetent service. lol

I have hard time understanding your statement. Why is that a rip off when you can't do the job yourself?

It's not a ripoff because I cannot DIY. It's because a 140$ tire costs 210$ to touch the road. That extra 70$ - tax, which is 50% of the advertised price... is the ripoff...

No, it's called labor.

So you go to a steakhouse the steak itself cost $10 and restaurant charge $30 and that's double the price. What is that called?

All Tire shops are a ripoff... They add up at least 40$ more per tire with installation and hazard protection , ..... fees... no other option ... we cannot balance a tire at home...
In most places, road hazard is optional. At DT, it was $100 for all 4 tires for waste disposal and taxes for lifetime rotation and balance. The good thing about DT is that they'll usually rotate your tires even if you didn't buy tires from them.

I ordered Bridgestone Driveguard tires, 235/65/17 for $540 on Thanksgiving from DTD. On Monday, I got an email saying there's a problem with my order and to call them. I called to find that the tires were out of stock. They said they could replace it with newer version for $690 (reg $1000). I said that's more than what I wanted to spend. They offered Nittos for the same price. I said I didn't want Nittos. What about the Perelli Scorpion AS3($784)? They said sure for $540. Plus I'll also get a $70 MIR, so $470 at the end.
