Chat

Our very own thread to discuss and chat about the OS, ROM's, apps from Android Market, our Android phones, tips & tricks, questions, and help issues. With the different phones out now and to be released from various carriers, I figure we all have a lot in common with the Android OS. We can discuss what we like, need help with, what apps are cool or don't work well, as well as questions and help issues. Given that CSR's from the various carriers may know less than we do, this thread is for all of us so we can help one another.

I really liked the Hero, but I'm pretty much stuck with Verizon, so I had to go with the Droid! I, too, am discovering new things everyday!
OK, I'll leave now and let you all get on with your confirmation-bias.
Seriously who cares about which is better, which isn't..blah blah blah...I'm here for help any questions as a new droid owner.
SOOOO wtf is up with the messaging? We tried the Handcent, but fiancee doesn't like it...so went back to the standard..well now when I text him it says its from me until he goes into the full chat window thing and it has his cousins name and #, but the threaded name is mine.
I tried to reset the messaging back to factory default but still doing it..I dont know how to fix it
Ok just tried with my moms cell and his same cousins name and number showing up..

Is it possible you have the phone number and name transposed in the contacts register? Also, if Handcent is not working, you could give Chomps a try. linly [androlib.com]

But IMO I am loving this phone...it does so much more for me. Plus its on a network that works for me..lol
Yea I don't know what went wacky, but we deleted him out of the contacts and rebooted and seems ok now. His was the last text message, so something just got stuck I guess. Was pretty trippy.
Handcent works fine IMO, he just wanted the simple standard one..even after I changed the settings so no bubbles, etc..
Also something weird on the regular text messaging..I took a pic and sent it and it said "converting mms charges will apply"...I might have to google that one and see whats up with it..no reason we should be charged. And I dont think we are..just weird little things..

Yeah, there's a few threads like that (and that's the point in them
Because as a new Android owner I am here looking for help and info and it's a PITA trying to sift through the posts that have nothing to do with the Android phones..not saying just you..but I'd prefer hearing other Android owners opinions.
Just as I wouldn't take Mac advice from a PC user, I'd want to hear information from people who are actually using the product and know about it.
Can we just let this thread get back on topic of Android related stuff? Thanks

So you got the message you were "charged" for an MMS while using Handcent or was it from the native Droid app?

We were fine with the native App, but didn't think you could forward texts. We figure out if you hold down on what you want to forward an option will pop up. So we are just going to use the native now. The others just have the + button to add contacts and could do multiple. We haven't figured out how to send to multiple contacts without having to type each in.
So many things to learn..but it's like an adventure..
This one???
https://www.mobiledefen
You can even remote access it through your computer..I can't wait till it comes out for the droid.
