A1C home test kit is $15 per test. Now, Walgreen will be providing one free A1C testing. Results immediately.
Use Walgreens Store Locator link below. Enter your zip code, check box "Diabetes Wellness Events" and then click on "Find a Store". The stores near me will have both the regular blood sugar test as well as the A1C blood glucose test, others may vary...you can call to find out what will be included during the event.

During the month of November Walgreens is offering FREE blood glucose and A1C testing at participating stores.
Here is an automated number to call to find out which store in your area is offering free testing - 1-877-926-3968. These tests are only offered on certain days and times in the month at participating Walgreens locations, don't expect to wander in to your local Walgreens and expect to get tested. Call the automated phone line, it is set-up for the FREE testing information. (This is the only time in history someone on SD will tell you to call a phone number.)
They do NOT schedule appointments, it is first come first serve on the set day and time at your participating Walgreens; for example in Msla, MT where I am located they are offering testing only at the Reserve St. on November 19th from 1-7pm.
I would assume you need to fast for twelve hours for the blood glucose test. For those of you that don't know what an A1C test is - it is a test that is able to determine your blood sugar ratio over the last three months.
Thanks - again I did search for this but didn't find any info. No, I don't work for Walgreens - I just want people to know if they are at risk for this disease.

So yes, they're offering free diabetes tests. The advantage of the A1c test over the traditional glucose monitor strips is that your glucose can vary WIDELY over the course of the day depending on your activity level and food intake. The A1c changes very slowly, since it's averaged over months.
This week Walgreen's has a $5 Register Reward when you purchase a Bayer Contour or Breeze Meter for $14.99. Some of the Contour Meters are packaged with a bonus free A1C self-check kit.
There were coupons in the 10/25/09 Red Plum coupon insert for up to $30 off the meter.
Use the coupon. Buy the bonus pack. Voila! A $5 coupon to spend how you wish and the meter and the test kit for free.
