I would imagine it's like all of the other 2-in-1's. You fill the pot with ice, the warming plate under the pot doesnt come on (cheaper models come with a cheap heat mat that blocks the heat from the warming plate), and it brews (hot) like normal. You can just buy the heat blocking mat and have the same thing with your regular coffee pot, just make sure your pot isnt fragile and wont crack when the hot coffee hits that ice.

Best brewing when water reaches a temperature between 195 and 210F. Most of these inexpensive drip coffee makers fall short.

As a person who is getting more coffee snobbish by the month I thought I'd warn you that drip coffee makers like this are only good for dark roasts where you generally will Brew in the 180 to 190° range. For light roasts you really have to get close to the boiling point or you're not going to get enough extraction out of your beans.

Good deal though if you're looking for something basic. debating whether I should splurge on an expensive machine Black Friday or keep using my V60 and gooseneck kettle.

I think you fill the carafe with ice and it brews into the ice which chills it. Of course this means that every coffee maker like this is an iced coffee maker. The marketing folks have become really lazy or think we have become extra dumb.

thank you. looks like this one has two heating element (water + plate), the typical drip uses a single element to do both. as you said, the heat blocking mat or just ice in the cup + hot coffee.
