Comes with a Core i5-1135G7 [intel.com] CPU which is an 11th gen 4 core 8 thread with Intel Iris Xe 80 EU cores integrated graphics. This is a surprise bonus at this price. I have an older laptop with 48 core Iris graphics and it can play less demanding games in lowered settings. Think Starcraft II, League of Legends, etc.

The 1080p touchscreen is IPS though no details on brightness (I'd assume 250 nits).

This is surprisingly not terrible. If I were in the market for a basic laptop (normal internet/desktop usage) this one sounds great for the price.

EDIT:

Per Crucial [crucial.com] this has two RAM slots and can take an m.2 PCIe SSD for upgrades.

Per this video [youtube.com] it also has a 2.5" SATA drive bay, plus the included SSD is of course one of the m.2 2230 SK hynix drives found in most Dells these days.

I want to say that the 8GB RAM it includes is a single stick, so one slot open, based on my quick 5m research, but I can't be 100% certain.

per zippyzap's crucial.com link [crucial.com] it's expandable up to 64 GB, so yes you could upgrade the ram. best buy doesn't allow you to do it at purchase, however, so you'd have to take care of it yourself.

If you want a traditional laptop that you can also write on, I'd recommend a 2-in-1/convertible laptop so you can flip the screen around and hold it like a big tablet.

Yes and no. Yes, they do price match but it has to be approved through one of the departments that's only open Monday - Friday like 8 to 8. On this laptop, no they will not because Dell doesn't sell this model with a touchscreen. Certain Dell laptops and desktops are only sold with certain specs at Cisco, Office Depot, Best Buy, etc. if you found this laptop on Dell's website with the exact specs and it's during the week then yes Dell will price match. For example, Office Depot sold this model with a backlit keyboard but Dell never did. Also, Dell will not price match a week before and after Black Friday. Dell does what they can to sell their product with different specs then any other company so they don't have to price match. You can always call Dell and haggle with them to get a better price but it's hard to find an exact model with exact specs that they will price match.

I'm very tempted to pull the trigger on this. I've got an old Inspiron 5558 that I bought several years ago during Microsoft's 12 days of Christmas and the display seems to be slowly dying. It was cheap and has been "decent". It's pretty slow and battery life is borderline terrible. My personal laptop use case is pretty basic and this seems like it could be an acceptable, affordable replacement.
