I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but if you have a gmail account, say [email protected], you have aliases built in by inserting a "." period. So if you gave your email as [email protected] or [email protected], those would be auto forwarded to your main inbox. Handy for times when you need a "new" email account but can't be bothered to generate a whole new one and need to remember what it was and what the password is.
Best bet is to get this, and when you need to use the Plus part of the membership, upgrade. I usually wait until I need to have something shipped (or a curbside pickup) before I upgrade so the upgrade charge is prorated.

I had the web page with the offer open from last night, I was on the fence unsure if I wanted to take a chance on getting the $50 bonus. Fast forward to this afternoon, and I noticed the chatter on the offer being prematurely expired. I was able to complete the web form that I opened last night, the transaction was accepted, and I have a screen shot of the final order confirmation screen with the promo info still showing.

So far I haven't found any indication that the bonus has been applied, but supposedly it can take 72 hours. If they fail to honor the deal, I'll cancel & ask for a refund, or charge it back on the CC.

Headaches for me. I used the promo code with a new email and I hadn't been a member for over 6 months anyway. I never got the $50 instant savings. Tried to check at the customer help desk and they said they have no way of knowing if I have it on my account or not, I just had to try to check out with 50 bucks worth of stuff. Naturally, that didn't work. So I end up doing exactly what I didn't want, holding up a checkout line trying to explain to the cashier.

Staff gets called over, says they'll get me a gift card or something if I go ahead and check out come back to the CS desk. Now that they had my money it was time to hit me with the 'nothing we can do, sorry sorry sorry' routine. They said because I used my phone number, which had been associated with my mother's old account, I must have been flagged as invalid for the promo, despite all my email confirmations saying everything had worked correctly. (I got the impression the first person was truthful when she said they have no way of knowing and I was just getting BS'd out the door at this point)

They gave me the Sam's home office PH# where I had to explain everything twice. The first rep dropped the call after promising to resolve my issue. Now I'm waiting for the back end gift card and promo team to get back to me within 24-72 hours. I think it's going to be phone tag until I eventually give up at this point.

The lesson being, fly under the radar. Use a different email, PH#, everything. Don't get people involved. Nobody knows shit about these 'official promo codes' and they'll deny everything. If you so much as whisper that you've had an account before they'll have everything they need to weasel out.

My old membership expires on Jan 20 so I decided to wait a little closer to that date before signing up for this deal. I trusted that it would still be valid until Jan 31 as it said on their website.

OF COURSE it expires right before I was about to sign up.

Well guys, Sams Club screwed me again. I signed up for this promotion. I did a screencap of the page when I signed up. Clearly says "Join for $50 and get $50 off your first in-Club purchase." It also shows offer code 27Y9X applied in green with a check mark. So from the web site perspective, all seemed fine. I thought I would see some "proof" on my new account, which I didn't. I call Sam's Club and the rep said everything was fine, I would get the $50 off my first purchase.

I went to Sam's yesterday, (within the 60-day window), and was NOT given the $50 credit off my bill. Of course, store management was clueless and didn't know anything about the offer and couldn't help. So they said to call cust service. They said the offer was NEVER applied to my account, the same people who previously said it was applied to my account. They offered a $50 gift card. I said I wanted the CC credited which they refused to do. I asked for a manager who said the promotion was never applied to my card. Why then did they say it was applied when I called them in November? Even the manager had no authority to issue a CC credit. They offered a $50 GC and that was the extent of their offer.

How come a company as large as Wally World can't even have a working system? Why does it work for some people, but not for others?

See my comment below, other than canceling the card, you won't get a credit to your CC.

For anyone having issues: Went to chat, they didn't know what I was talking about. Told them to cancel, said they cudnt. Told them I'm going to charge back. Day later they sent a $50 gift card

What a nightmare.

I just tried talking to the online support via chat. Explained my situation, and they said I needed to talk to customer service at the club. That's who instructed me to talk to online support because they had no idea what I was talking about.

Online support said that they needed proof I signed up with a promo. How am I supposed to give proof when I signed up a month ago, I didn't screenshot the page of me using the promo code because I assumed it would just.....work?

So I asked for a refund to my CC, they said they can't. So I said I'll unfortunately have to do a charge back, and then the rep said sorry she couldn't be of more help and ended the chat on me.

Insane.

anyone have idea what this is about from the $10 deal yesterday? i signed up when it was live and was able to redeem membership as well as egift card with no issues. thread is gone and link gets following message.

I signed up for the offer 4 days back. Just did Scan and Go at the club and no 50$ instant discount at checkout page. So I didn't check out and went to Customer care in club where I showed all screenshots with offer details. She has to call the manager for help. Manager wanted me to try at checkout where 50$ instant discount didn't show up. So manager did manual adjustment for $50 and checkout was successful. Took almost 25 minutes for the whole process with wait time. Overall broken system but Club team able to help here. I pointed out that the offer is on sams.com and persisted that they need to take responsibility to help.
