Had mine since day one. Aside from a little kink with FindMy, basically a little better in every way. Sounds a little better, NC a little better, battery life a little better, charging now with MagSafe, battery notices even without opening the case, FIndMy support, little speaker to find case and hear battery pings, VOLUME SLIDE CONTROLS, lanyard loop….. yeah, basically a little better in a dozen ways.

As long as you are a shopper at Target and have the Target red card... and will use the promo Apple GC
Every $100 of Apple GC = $80.75 net ($100 - $4.25 red card - $15 target GC)

AirPod Pro or Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen) - $249

GC Cost = $201.88 - $50 Apple GC Promo... nets to $151.88... now that is a slick deal

Yes, Apple does not distinguish between the two anymore. They all go in one account and can be used for hardware, software, music, etc.

Several people have mentioned Apple does not allow paying for Airpods with a gift card balance if it involves receiving a gift card promotion. Basically how some stores will not allow you to use a gift card to purchase another gift card. Perhaps this is why you are getting an error.
