That is true for most dell inspiron laptops. Dell will not even repair hinge issues within warranty period.

Hinges and power ports are so poorly designed on every Dell laptop. It's shameful how long they've let those known issues slide.

Kind of? That's an understatement. This is really not acceptable in 2022 going into 2023. I can understand if this is a low budget spec but this one has i7. No reason to comprise on USB-C.

Oh and that mean stuck with proprietary power supply.

FYI: This is one of the U-series CPUs. 2 hyperthreaded high performance cores, 8 efficiency cores.

Yep.. Inspiron 3000 series, Dells entry level/bottom tier garbage that starts in the $200 range. They stick Intel Celeron chips and 4GB of RAM in these models. There's zero confusion of it being nothing other than a low budget laptop at first glance. It's an ugly SOB, for sure. Definitely not something you'd wanna pay $500+ for. There's no USB-C for good reason they strip just about every convenience feature from these to keep the price down.
If you wanna Dell you don't wanna go lower than their 5000 series. Personally, I like their 7000 series, some can be bargains, some XPS looks, with many similar features, almost near their build quality, without the higher price.

Ugh, this is a crappy deal. Take a look at this Dell Inspiron 16 [dell.com] instead. For $50 less, you get:

- Bigger 16-inch display, with 16:10 instead of 16:9 aspect ratio
- Touch and 300 nits (vs non-touch and 250 nits on the OD model)
- Much nicer build quality - 5000 series is mostly metal, while 3000 series is all plastic
- Much more efficient (cooler and quieter) Ryzen 5625U, that also performs better [cpubenchmark.net] than this Intel i7-1255U
- USB-C supporting Power Delivery and DisplayPort, vs data-only on the OD model
- Likely larger battery (54 Whr, vs. either 41 or 54 on the OD model, I'm guessing it's the former)

The Inspiron 16 only comes with 8GB RAM, but that's an easy $30 upgrade, it has 2 SODIMM slots. You'd have to be nuts to go for the OD model instead.

Do all Dells suffer from the track pad issues I'm reading on Slickdeals?

You saved yourself some misery by missing out on this deal. Inspiron is lower end of Dell laptop lineup that has 3 series (3000, 5000, 7000) and this is 3000 series which means the lowest end of the lower end model. Aka bottom of the barrel PeacePeacePeace
