I bought this and returned it. I was comparing this over a Nespresso. Granted a Nespresso is much more convenient but you're also paying way more per cup, unless you refill your pods/capsules. I chose the Nespresso over this because of the following reasons:

1. Cleaning this up after each use (imho) was a bit of a hassle.
2. The milk frother kinda splashes little droplets of milk everywhere, mostly in the cup, but a wee bit in unwanted areas.
3. The prep per drink was more than I anticipated for (as was the cleanup).
4. You're really limited to the size of the cups you can use with this thing.

In general I thought, okay the work of prepping each drink would be the same as refilling each nespresso pod (if refilling pods in bulk, not one at a time), but the cleanup with this per drink is way more involved. You have to dump the espresso puck, clean the portafilter, clean under the rim that the portafilter attaches through, and run hot water through it, and run a steam clean through the milk frother...whereas with the Nespresso its just cleaning the milk frother.

When I got this machine, I thought it would be cool to act like a barista, then the cold hard reality of the extra work set in and I decided on sticking with the Nespresso and I returned this thing.

Hope this helps someone. If you don't want to refill Nespresso pods, get an original line machine where the pods/capsules are much cheaper. If refilling Nespresso pods, do them in bulk to streamline the process, and get some tools from Recaps. If you enjoy doing the process of preparing Espresso, and are a beginner, then this is the machine for you.

Have had this for 2.5 years. Still going strong. Really like that the milk reservoir is integrated but removable to throw in the fridge.

I have had mine 10 months and it's still working great, but I mostly just use it for straight espresso. The milk reservoir can be stored in the fridge between uses, but cow's milk doesn't seem to last more than 1-2 days in the container. Milk alternatives (almond, oat) don't seem to froth as well with this.

Chefman does make good products of high quality like the glass electric kettle. Even sold at Costco.

I go with Chefman. But I have to take a close look at the quality.

For the pass 5 year, I have 3 shot and my wife has 1 or 2 shot daily, still works fine. Althought the milk foamer only used by my wife to make white flat.(Dinkum Aussie)

The key (any espresso machine) is soft water. (Coffee taste better too). And follow the instructions to descale the boiler using vinegar.
The key is using zero water to remove all particles. Or using distilled water.

Hard water sucks for everything to cleaning clothes...dishes...washing....

but good for teeth.

So my 2 cents....

Get nespresso machine with small capsules.

Get hand frother..

Froth milk and put in microwave for 20 seconds.

Make espresso with machine and pods..

Simple..quick...done. Good coffee. No cleaning except the cup.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced 2-1 coffee pot/espresso maker combo?

I picked one of these up at a thrift store because it was not producing foam.
I was able to take it apart and fix it up, but the boiler is not the greatest design and I will likely be tossing mine out soon.
The internals are starting to corrode and it is probably not good to ingest aluminum or whatever other metal is corroding inside.

Costco.com has the espresso machine I bought and have used twice daily for over two years on sale for $130 ($10 cheaper) through 12/18. You also get a much better warranty than you would with Amazon, of course.

I doubt you can do better for the price. I'm no aficionado, but I worked in numerous coffee shops during college, and have been very happy with this machine.

Here's my post from another thread about it:

Quote :
I have the De'Longhi espresso machine and I love it. Bought in 12/2020, and it has been used at least twice a day since then. For the money, I don't know how you could do better. It was $90 back then, but that was right before the pandemic, and I've never seen it even this low since (been keeping an eye out for friends and family.) This was the deal from which I bought it, which has more discussion:

https://slickdeals.net/e/14659670-de-longhi-espresso-machine-with-15-bars-of-pressure-90-free-shipping

I wish mine was from Costco, and the all metal look is pretty sleek compared to my black and metal.

I suggest a decent grinder to go with it [this goes for any espresso machine], like the Baratza Encore, for which refurbs are often on sale.

We don't use the frothing wand much anymore (I do straight espresso and my partner does cold drinks mostly), but it works great on the rare occasion we use it.

I can understand the appeal of the price point, but this really isn't it if you want to make a proper espresso at home. Either pony up a bit more for a DeLonghi Dedica or Breville Bambino, or just get a Aeropress.
Not from my experience. Had mine for 2 years with zero issues. It's a wonderful entry-level machine for a solid espresso. Still much more convenient than an Aeropress.

Had this for a few months. Although it makes good enough coffee for most of the people who don't usually go deep in to coffee making, it had one big issue and this occurred after a few months - the portafilter used to unscrew itself while I was trying to get a shot. I tried cleaning the screw threads to be free of coffee grounds, purged the system, cleaned the outlets used vinegar. nothing worked and it used to spit hot grounds everywhere. Ended up just putting it aside. Not sure if it is a defective one or its the model issue. my two cents...
Sounds defective. Never had such an issue.

I use mine for around 3 years and all the time works ok.
Now I jump for a super automatic and never going back to one of this. Anyway I still have this Expresso machine in my garage.

Many making the argument for a super automatic are using the same argument other would use against a super automatic. Most sub commercial grade super autos have a terrible grinder rendering half the machine useless. The breville and other are also $700 vs this $150 machine. That's a $550 difference for mehh espresso.
Bare minimum for "good" home espresso would be a Gaggia classic pro ($400), pod and spring kit ($120) and a decent grinder ($400). About a grand total. In for penny in for a pound. Is the breville better than this Mr coffee. Sure. A little bit but you still wont get professional level drinks for the $550+ price difference

i have this similar model, the one above this one for a little bit more $$. its great for a nice cup of cappuccino/lattes/espresso. there is a little bit of cleaning if you use the frother. most of the time i just heat up my milk in the microwave so its a really easy to clean, just the puck.
