The opposite lol. There are people in every AMD laptop thread saying that Intel>better.

Intel has Thunderbolt which matters to some use cases and not for many others.

Intel is trying to regain lost ground but they had major issues going to 10nm. They ruled the market because AMD bet on their original Bulldozer architecture which screwed them till the last few years. Intel similarly screwed itself on its overambitious 10nm process.

Right now, AMD processors use significantly less power than Intel (and therefore put out less heat, which is much better for something thermally limited like a laptop) and they're using TSMC's 5nm process, which is basically the only cutting edge one on the market (Samsung failed and Intel's is still rocky).

There are some things that unfortunately work better on Intel, due to them having the lead and the buy-in from software companies for so long. Most of that has to do with apps that use the iGPU though.

For reference, MacBook Air M1 is 300 nits glossy display and still the whole world uses it with glee in coffee shops. It will not be an issue under most circumstances. Bringing up brightness or adjusting angle will help with any reflective issues you may have.
Sorry, 400 nits

I'm seeing $589 for military after adding a promo code. Amex has a $100 cash back offer on $500 too.
That offer expired on 11/14/2022. Obviously they did not intend to let you use the offer with Black Friday discounts.

Is your offer still showing up on your AMEX card? Mine disappeared and I thought it was because the offer had expired?

Does anyone know what the battery life is on this machine? I have been searching for reviews but cannot find any. Since this has a 6600HS processor, would that decrease the battery life a bit since it runs at 35W?

Edit: It looks like Walmart has this for $655 with delivery by November 25th and what is likely easier returns then buying through Lenovo (hopefully).
Edit 2: This looks to have USBC 3.2 Gen 1 vs Gen 2 slots. What does that limit?

Any thought on how well does it compare to https://www.costco.com/lenovo-fle...57989.html. Will be on sale @ 699 on Black Friday. Citi card still extending warranty.

I'm debating on this as a gift for my wife for XMas, but the two things holding me back:
- Soldered RAM (going to assume this may never need to be upgraded, hmmm)
- SSD instead of NVMe (this is my major holdback)

I like my laptops at ~14", this is backlit, and I'm definitely all go for AMD. Hmmm...

Most of my laptops last from 5-8 years. The one she has now is 7 years old. I usually upgrade RAM or the storage if anything, but nowadays I don't think it's necessary as often anymore.

It's really the non-NVMe that has be pondering.

Yeah since moon said nits on Macbook are bigger, 400 nits.

I compared to a review from last year model on notebookcheck https://www.notebookcheck.net/Len...869.0.html

They show that under sunlight it will definitely be bad, but not unusable, still it would be a nuisance, pretty dim. Macbook wins there.

Are you sure that this is no an NVMe drive? Seems like it might be.

Dude, ever since my post I've been scouring the internet to figure that out. I don't see anywhere if it states SATA or NVMe. If it's NVMe, I just might bite! You'd think, being 2022 and all.

I have been scouring the internet to find more info on the battery life for this laptop. Cannot seem to find any reviews on it. For the 16" version of this laptop, I did find one review that said that it contained an NVMe drive.

OK, here is what I did:
- Went to lenovo parts site here [lenovo.com] and entered the part# 82SJ0005US to look for "parts" - try this link [lenovo.com]
- I then grabbed the part# for the SSD, here 5SS0Z46565. I then searched that, and found this at newegg [newegg.com].

So it shows up as NVMe, and even pictures show it.
I'm going to assume and hope that it's NVMe.

Now you got me on battery life. Definitely can't compare to Intel as that's comparing apples to oranges with regards to CPU TDP.

Looks like you already figured it out but "M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4" would tell you its nvme. There is no gen4 sata standard. M.2 sata was phased out several years ago. You can expect every name brand Windows laptop has a nvme ssd in it.
