Is SK a reliable brand? I remember it is a Chinese brand.

The SK in SK Hynix literally stands for South Korea, and just because something is produced or based in China doesn't mean it's unreliable. Good job hamster.

But to answer your question, yes SK is one of the most respected names when it comes to SSDs.

Edit: I have been corrected, SK stands for Sun Kyong.

South Korean. Yes it's reliable it's one of the largest conglomerates behind Samsung.

The P41 is using their in-house controller with 176-layer nand compared to Samsung's 980 Pro that uses 136-Layer nand. The P41 is using relatively fresh technology and ranks among the top tier nvme sdds.

Do I need a heat shield to use with this SSD for a PS5? Seems like some of the Samsung ones come with a heat shield already built in.
yes use a heat sink

if anything you can buy thermal pads and stick it on

if you actually delve into technological history; american business that were sold off to asian markets decades ago while america focused on, who knows what. the asian companies thrived and outcompeted america in their own inventions sadly enough

hynix was founded from the technology that intel abandoned from their development

taiwan is practically over in china for christ sakes so whatever narrative you are giving off associating the ethnicity of the product being a negative factor of a ssd it's beyond me; and probably you too

See great comments from others .. but lost my trust in this brand when by Gigabyte Aero laptop came with this SSD and it failed on me in just 8 months time. Lost a lot of my valuable data due to this company! Gigabyte replaced it with a newer SSD and haven't seen any problems since!

Worried about their firmware software. Seeing reports of issues downloading it and lack of firmware updates.

Curious why bought this for 100 bucks over 980 pro? Not sarcasm but aren't they 99% same perf?

Wikipedia says SK = Sunkyong, not South Korea, but yes, definitely a South Korean company, not Chinese.
