I really wanted this to work. The refurbished unit came quickly and looked/was brand spanking new. Unfortunately after two days, the unit stopped working for more than 5 minutes at a time and kept defaulting to an error saying the bin was full or needed to be replaced with a new part. I returned it and got my money back and invested in a new one at Costco for $150 more, which is the latest model.
I bought this last time (about a month or so ago) to replace a broken deebot, here are my thoughts:
Pros:
Does the job, app is easy to use, it sticks to schedules and the nice thing is the self emptying bin.
When it is self emptying it is much quicker and quieter than the Deebot one.
Cons:
Doesn't have LiDAR so mapping is very limited. It's based on what it hits basically. That's how it maps.
It does give you a map of your area but not as detailed (obviously) as the deebot with LiDAR.
Doesn't work well if u run it at night and even gives you a message on the app when you schedule it for night time that it won't perform as good unless you have the lights on. The first time I ran it, i scheduled it to run at 11:30pm which was my Deebot's schedule time and it couldn't finish, it ran very random and only ran for like 20 mins before coming back.
When you run it during the day it runs much better.
Doesn't work well on thick area rugs and by thick I mean less than 1" tall. It really struggles to move and clean. The side bristle (only 1 as opposed to the Deebot) barely turns on the rug.

I am not sure if J8+ from Costco for $270 more is really worth it... Before J8 was introduced.. i7 was their top model. I had it and it was like a tank. Performed really well. 2 years warranty is really good. But J8+ has additional camera for poop avoidance...

That's enough for me to not buy this. Shame, it's such an incredible deal. I hope it goes for <$500 tomorrow for Black Friday.
Would this be considered a better deal compared to the Costco Roomba J8+ that is currently 599?
It depends what you need...the i7+ does not have a camera at the front, it's on the top. So it can't see things below it's height. I'd you have kids and toys all over the house, generically a messy person with things onnthe floor, or pets (possible pet poop) then the j8 would be a better value of your money.
Otherwise you'd run the bot and it gets tangled on a charging cable.
