I have both phones. The S22 is the better choice.

S22 all day, every day... S22 vs Pixel 7 is a toss-up...

You get credit to your Google Fi account to use towards service billing

Huh? Assuming that you mean 'with their permission', then there is... they're going to need to process the port out on their side. The receiving carrier really doesn't care if it's the same person as long as they get valid port out info.

Never mind. I figured out you have to be on the Simply Unlimited plan and click "Add a person" on the Account page. Each line needs a Gmail email.

I think I answered my own question:

Activate the phone on an existing full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and keep the qualifying phone active on Google Fi for 30 consecutive days.

What am I missing? Seem to say 30 days in the T&Cs.

How do I qualify for the $500 discount?

An existing Fi customer is someone who currently has Fi service or whose last day of Fi service took place within the last 180 days.

To qualify for the $500 discount, you need to:
  • Activate the phone on an existing full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and keep the qualifying phone active on Google Fi for 30 consecutive days.
  • You must activate on the same Fi account used to purchase the phone or be a current member of the purchaser's group plan. If you activate the phone on a new Fi account, you are not eligible for this promotion.
  • If you do not currently have Fi service and your last day of Fi service took place within the last 180 days as part of an existing single subscriber or group plan, you must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.
  • The discounted price will automatically apply during checkout. If you do not meet the conditions above, $500 will be charged to your Google Pay account.

Nice of Fi to finally throw current subscribers a bone.

Quote from produke :

Chances are that there will be a pretty good trade in offer from either Samsung or BB and Fi will likely not sell the S23 to current subscribers for $299 right away. Granted, I don't think it took very long for them to discount the S22 to $299 for new subscribers, maybe a couple of months after launch?

Note that T&C used to be 60 days of service for both, so it's basically a month less now for existing customers but 60 days more for new. Minimum plan is $20 + fees if you don't use the data.

Yes it's unlocked, no Fi does not officially support e-sim on any Samsung phones (yet) and haven't announced a timeline for doing so. I've seen a few users report workarounds to get their phones to register but voice/data didn't work for most.
