Chances are that there will be a pretty good trade in offer from either Samsung or BB and Fi will likely not sell the S23 to current subscribers for $299 right away. Granted, I don't think it took very long for them to discount the S22 to $299 for new subscribers, maybe a couple of months after launch?
Note that T&C used to be 60 days of service for both, so it's basically a month less now for existing customers but 60 days more for new. Minimum plan is $20 + fees if you don't use the data.
Yes it's unlocked, no Fi does not officially support e-sim on any Samsung phones (yet) and haven't announced a timeline for doing so. I've seen a few users report workarounds to get their phones to register but voice/data didn't work for most.
I'm still on the free Google Local guides promo, so that would cover the service for 30 days... but the difference in the trade in vs cost will cover it for a bit longer anyways.
