I bought these the last time they were $5. They seem to be slightly undersized. Just enough to get stuck in the bolt if you have to turn with moderate pressure. They work, but it is annoying to keep having to unjam them.
I bought these last time as well. Haven't found any sizing issues. It's been really handy having the right size for every day use. It's a really heavy set and the two sides actually decouple. The little plastic attachment piece broke but no big deal.

Are you using the correct size? Inches yo metric are almost identical but have the smallest difference in size. I have this set and use it for cars, sizing seems to be perfect

I've been using metric on metric. Maybe I got a bad set or maybe it is the ball end is more prone to getting stuck, but I have had trouble with them.
I'm going to spray paint each one a different color, so I can make a quick visual determination as to its size
(not sure where I got that idea, but I'm thinking it might save me about $22).
Got this last time for $5 as well. Solid set, can't beat the price. I was so tired of all the lose ones I've collected over the years that come with furniture or kids toys. Glad to finally have a decent set to go to.

You probably already know this, but just in case: if you're trying to break a bolt loose, or trying to tighten one, you don't want to use the ball end to do that - they're not designed for high-torque applications (that's what the flat end is for).
That being said, you may simply have gotten a set from a bad manufacturing batch.
