Yep. Best you're ever going to get for AM4 (for gaming).

Not to mention 7 series 3d chips will likely come available sometime next year if you're a gamer. This is a great buy if you're still on AM4 and trying to maximize the longevity of your system
Yeah but I emphasized on building brand new.

Bought it last time at this price.

Best so far. It is possible AMD could release more x3D processors.

The answer is very simple.

if you already own AM4 - then this is a logical upgrade.

if you owned 2xxx or 3xxx Ryzen - even 5600x - anything on an AM4 board that's not a 5800x or better - its a logical upgrade.

But AM4 is end of life - so unless you get a nearly free motherboard - your money is better spent on a new socket.

Man 250 would be my sweet spot. I got a 3700x so it's not like a super boost but it would be a nice boost.

x3d is only strong in games, 12700k, is just strong across the board.

Probably wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade for me huh? I have a 3900x on an older x470 motherboard (ROG Strix x470-F gaming). Also running an RTX 3080. Maybe I'll just wait a few more years and then jump to AM5 completely.

AMD also uses 50% less power.

It's a complicated choice. Here's a pretty good unbiased comparison: https://www.tomshardware.com/news...3d-v-cache

This is pretty much true. If you're gaming, this is the one to get. If you're solely compiling code/rendering/etc then spend more and get an Intel. What this chip can do in games is pretty amazing at this price.

I don't need it but I want it. If it was $200-250 id buy it even if i don't need it. You'd think if you can buy a new one for this price a used one would be 200-250, nope ppl want $350-400 for it used lol
I bought one yesterday at Micro Center. It comes with an Uncharted game code which can be sold for about $30. Gets the price a little closer to what you want.
