The biggest thing that I learned was, if your head gets clogged and no amount of basic troubleshooting works, there is something called "power cleaning" which uses a lot of ink but apparently unclogs the head. The downside is, the used ink flows into something called an "ink pad" and on some of the versions of the ecotank, this ink pad is not replaceable. So you can run the power cycle once or twice before the ink pad gets fully saturated and becomes unusable at that point. If your head clogged again another time after this, you cannot run the power cleaning cycle again and either have to reach out to Epson or throw out the printer and get a new one. Some versions have a replaceable ink pad part that can overcome this, but the lower priced ones (the one I have) don't. Once I found this, I have been diligently printing a purge file at least once a month to avoid this headache

this is as good as it gets for so called injekt printer. print quality would be better than regular laser ones. speed is good enough
Not sure what makes the 3850 $100 better than the 2850. Haven't gotten that far in feature comparison

We bought one last Black Friday, so it's been about a year of sporadic use. We have gone weeks without printing and haven't had a problem with any clogs. We use it more now, maybe once a week and still no problems. Prints on photo paper really well. The reason we use it so infrequently is that we have a laser printer for black and white and old habits are hard to break.

I have a different version of the Ecotank and it is a pain in the butt to get it unclogged once the heads dry up from non use. The recommendation to have the head not clog is to print what is called a purge file (basically a page with strips in a few different colors) once a month, that lets the ink flow from all the color tanks and keeps the head from drying up.
