For Mac, Parallels is still the best but VMWare is also a good option
Different type of hypervisor type 1 vs type 2. Though the current version of VMware takes advantage of Hyper V also VMware is more feature rich. Hyper v is not available in all windows Versions... Honestly though get out of the windows ecosystem to Linux you will have a better experience for much less and more choices... Arch runs better on surface much better than windows go figure!! Then you can install windows in Virtual Box

Take a good look at Player vs Pro [vmware.com], if you don't need anything in the Pro column, Player is free for non commercial use.
I use it to connect to vsphere (Free) that I have installed on an old Mac Mini. I think the convenience is worth it, but everyone spends their money differently.
