Source? Don't post a comment like this and you have no clue. These Indio guitars have fantastic reviews from plenty of players. They might need a little setting up (fret work, truss rod etc...) but other than that.. for $70? You can't beat it. (FYI, I'm a professional musician who writes music for TV shows. Watch TV? You've heard my music)

Also NOTE - this price is also good for the Telecaster equivalent. I just bought the blue with maple neck. https://www.monoprice.com/product...kgQAvD_BwE

Also keep watch for the Monoprice 15W (Like a 50W) 25lb combo tube amp slickest deal! It would be $198 if it were in stock. ETA is January. Highly recommended. 1x12 Celestion guitar type speaker. The most important factor in the tone.

It's not restricted to being a practice-only amp; yet can go low volume too.

The entire Monoprice site is 15% off. Look for sales and get -15% the sales; unless it says already with. both.

LOL. It's not; but you'd have $13 more dollars toward getting a case or just wrap it in a blanket and throw it in your party band bus. Wink

Or there's a nice padded guitar bag on SD for about $6

Bought the blue strat and yellow telecaster. I am building a tele for the first time and going to cannibalize this one, cheaper then buying all the hardware separately. Plus I can learn on these as I've only built a small uke. I'll probably swap the body first while I figure out a neck design. CNC makes it pretty easy 😎

Meh. The tele I got last time was due to SDers saying it was great. Well, all I can say is mine wasn't. Frets hanged over the neck and would cut your hand as you slide on the neck. Bought a $30 fret file kit which got it better. Needs a setup badly but doesn't seem to have a neck bar so it has to be adjusted on bridge. Different bridge height for every two strings.

I tried to exchange it to see if it was just the cheap lottery but they were out of stock.

In conclusion, it seems like a $70 guitar 🤪

Is this a good starter for someone who's interested in learning how to play guitar but doesn't want to spend a lot?

Sure. As a beginner, you may not know any better about quality, plus you won't know what you like and how you want a guitar to sound, but bad instruments can certainly hinder your desire to keep playing and developing.

No wouldn't recommend. Most of these units aren't setup perfectly and need some adjustment and clean ups. You will get bogged down by those things. If you are a beginner get a Yamaha Pacifica 112j and just make sure the action is low. Buy it from a place which is willing to lower the action for you or buy from sweetwater which does inspection before shipping.

I've had a white SSS strat style Indio guitar for about a year. I own many guitars at various levels and I believe these to be excellent guitars, particularly for mild DIY-ers. For a beginner, you'll want to follow some (fairly simple) DIY setup videos on YouTube to make sure your guitar is in great playing shape.
For the more intermediate / advanced player, these make excellent project guitars. You start with a full very adequately functioning instrument that you can update individual parts on, etc. or take it apart, sand it down, make your own finish. 100% a "buy" at this price. I'm probably going to grab a tele model.

Yes and for the parent of a child who wants to learn guitar, $70 is the perfect starting point knowing how quickly their interests can change.

If anyone is serious about playing guitar, pickup a Classic Vibes Squier instead. Even for a kid, I would never buy one of these again, it might be fine for $70, but just the wasted time tuning these things each day if not hour isn't worth the hassle. The neck and fretwork is awful, tuners garbage. You can gig with a Squire and MIM parts are dirt cheap for upgrades.

You get what you pay for never applies to musical instruments except maybe pianos.

My brother bought a violin from china for $99 and the same one I believe is close to $500 in the U.S. His teacher was impressed with the quality.

My clarinet costs $4500 and before that I had one of the chinese ones you pick up new for $80. The $80 one was good and I can produce a great tone with it. The only thing is the plastic on the cheap one was probably intended to replicate more of a composite material/wood tone and it did end up breaking where one of the corks are. For light use it would be perfectly good

The problem with these is not longevity. It's setup out of the box. A lot of these have sharp frets that will need to be filed down. Most of them come reasonably well set up out of the box (intonation is fine, truss rod is acceptably well adjusted).

Electronics are pretty bargain basement, but will do the job (advanced players may want to swap them out).

The tuners are OK--stays in tune.

The neck is thick and not that pleasant--but fine for a beginner.

These are a good deal at the price. Don't believe those who say they are a $800 guitar for $100. They aren't. A $800 guitar will have better out-of-box setup, better tuners, better pickups, a more comfortable neck.

But at less than $100, this is a decent deal.

You can go into literally any pawn shop here in Vegas and get a Squier Bullet Stratocaster for 70 bucks which are the best beginner instruments for the price. Plus since it's an actual recognized brand name you won't have as much of an issue trying to resell it if you don't want it. Used instruments are 99 percent of the time always the best deals. You can also check your local Guitar Center stores used inventory on their website. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/
