As a reminder to those who purchase this, you will get a code that allows you to e-file five (5) FEDERAL income tax returns electronically. If you only use one or two uses of your code, offer the remaining uses of your code to fellow SD'er here. It will not in any way affect your own tax return nor expose your info. The code is only a means to upload your return to H&R Block's servers & then on to the IRS.
I've provided my own code in years past, here on SD, to fellow SD'ers when I was done using mine.
Anyone worried about being tracked by meta, just use something like noscript browser add-on, then block the pages trackers, etc you don't like. Use false names, dates, etc wherever possible, just feed bad data, obviously not on your taxes, but you get it.
You'd be amazed how many things are on a single page. If you dont know what they are just Google the name and it will tell you.
You do realize that there are a lot of embedded webpages in the "downloadable" version as well, right? It's just hard to spot which are which.
No, I don't "realize" any embedded webpages in the software.
I've been using H&R Block downloadable (or disk) software for years. There are no "webpages" within the software or webpages that pop-up. \
The presented "pages" may look like "webpages" to you...but they are not "webpages" or designed in a HTML webpage format.
If I moved to another state mid-year, can I buy two licenses and file the two state taxes(since it only comes with 1 state)?
So, the 1 state thing...means it will only download 1 state's software.
The easiest way around this, to get a 2nd state download is to load the software on another computer and download that state version on the 2nd computer.
I've tried in the past to uninstall the software and remove all indications of it within the registry but everytime I did, the software was able to recognize that the a state version was already loaded on that computer. After loading the software to a 2nd computer, I was able to download & complete a 2nd state return.
And just so you (and others are aware - as it comes up every year) the State download, depending on your state, does not guarantee that you can "electronically file" your state taxes for free. Some states (ex. New York) do not allow tax prep software to charge to e-file a state return but for most states, H&R Block charges for this feature. It's BS but is what it is. Of course, the SlickDeal hack around this, is to just print your state tax return and mail it it. Your refund will take a little a little longer to get to you...but at least you're not paying $20 to e-file it.

So if you bought a new Electric Vehicle or a Plug in Hybrid and installed a charger at home, H&R Block is not your best choice.

2019 - $14.99
2020 - $17.99
2021 - $21.99
2022 - $23.95
Some price creep but still good deal. As others have pointed out, likely will be another SD under $20 if you hold out.
