Remember H&R Block does not support form 8911 - Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit.

So if you bought a new Electric Vehicle or a Plug in Hybrid and installed a charger at home, H&R Block is not your best choice.

Pretty sure you can't use that on software anymore.
Just used $9 in slow shipping credits to get it for $13.49 at Amazon. It's true those cannot be applied to the physical version of the software but for the downloadable digital version they can. I heard you cannot use no rush credits on video game downloads and digital content anymore, so maybe that's what you were thinking of.

Post the names of the software please. Which free software does complex returns for Landlords and stock investors?
Does the Premium version covers Federal+State+Investment+W2+1099+Landlord. Thanks 👍

Try this first before you buy anything...

Shows $7.99 for "Deluxe Edition" (I didn't bother to look as to what that offered) and $14.99 for state return.

I dont like to fart around with inferior softwares, I just use TurboTax when it goes on Sale. Set a deal alert NOW for it and just wait. And last year they had different deals that you get 3 or 5 licenses for X amount of dollars and I just bought one of the licenses from a different member here on SLickDeals for $20 he sold me one of his licenses for the most-premium of versions.

Time is money and Im not going to fart around for 5 hours to complete my return with inferior softwares just to try to save 30 bucks or whatever. I am a Landlord and a stock-trader so I have complicated return and need a platform that imports all my stock trades automatically

And dont wait until the week before the deadline to do it because then if you need to hire an accountant they will charge you a Kings Ransom to help you

I like to complete the return early but then I wait until a day or 2 before the deadline to actually submit it. Because this way the IRS is so swamped and overwhelmed that your chances of getting Audited are greatly diminished

Deluxe Tax Free USA just gets you priority online help. Same tax support on the software side. So no higher level required for differnat things.

The state you can take their tax info and plug into a state form outside if you wanted to save the money. But many do not have state or its very simple so another option you can get around if needed.

State efiling is expensive at 19.99 that is extra. Taxact is $9.99
Check the state you're e-filing in. I know that NY law prohibits additional charges when filing through a bought tax software since it is supposed to include the e-filing service. I've made multiple fed+ state filings the last 2-3 years ever since using H&R Block and have had zero issues and zero additional costs (basically it was $15-$18) for everything. Just an FYI.

Does this work with the online software that keeps your tax history and reimports that info every year? Or is this a standalone piece of software you need to download?
As far as I know, this downloaded/installed stand-alone computer program cannot import anything from the online-only version and vice versa. Each has their own separate history. The online version data is stored at H&R Block. The computer version data is stored on your computer. They are not interchangeable.

As far as I know and have tried in the past.

Not accurate. It does support form 8911. You just need to file via mail. Source: I filed 8911 last year with H&R Block Deluxe.

Huh if that's the case I would rather do do my taxes with some free tax software online, print and mail it my self. What's the whole purpose of these types of tax filing software??? To make your tax filing smooth and easy. There is not much purpose of these software if you have to separately start filling out forms and printing them incurring the additional headache and time, wait longer for refunds and then increase your audit risk as you did not file electronically.

I switched to TurboTax last year for this purpose after wasting money with H&R.

Thanks for the response, had the same question. Been using the online (expensive) version for several years now.

I actually had to flip the setting to "use no-rush credits" off when I bought the hr block+ state on the download edition yesterday. So I'd to have to disagree with this comment.
