They ensure someone keeps giving them access to all their private data, which the user agreement when you set up the device guarantees. Your data is worth a small fortune. Google didn't become a goliath selling phones.

interesting the Pixel 6a is not on the trade-in list. Many of us have the Pixel 6a on the way from other trade in deals that made if nearly free in the past few days.

This total price listed is not accurate. Trade in value 479 gets applied after the tax so it's (499+tax) 539.17-479= $60.17
Or probably trade in values deals in general should mention whichever states the tax is not applicable

To answer the question about how Google affords this, I think they are spending a lot of money on their marketing budget for a few things:

1. Trade-in prices: They are offering ridiculous trade-in values for iPhones and Samsung devices trying to get users to convert.

2. Referral codes to try to get people to get the word out. Not enough people know about Pixel phones and their sales #s are dismal (iPhone 7 sold more on launch weekend than entire years of Pixel sales).

Ok cool, I only questioned it because last month, they wouldn't even allow me to trade it in when I checked I'm pretty sure. Or they offered like $50. Can't remember which, but I know it was bad. I went ahead and order this with the $450 trade-in promise. We'll see how it goes.
