They ensure someone keeps giving them access to all their private data, which the user agreement when you set up the device guarantees. Your data is worth a small fortune. Google didn't become a goliath selling phones.

interesting the Pixel 6a is not on the trade-in list. Many of us have the Pixel 6a on the way from other trade in deals that made if nearly free in the past few days.

They're trying to get rid of all their 6a devices because of all the negative PR. So if you got 6a, it's basically a worthless phone that won't be included in future trade ins.
I assume you're being sarcastic because this is not accurate.

They usually do this. The 6a is newer than the 6 (and cheaper and not as capable) and they usually don't let you trade in that new of a phone.

In a year, you may see a decent 6a trade in value and the 7a, which isn't available yet, won't be included as an option to trade in.

I've been using the P7 for over a month now. The battery life is average. If you are a heavy user, expect to charge during the day.

Google is pretty infamous for deciding pristine trade-ins are cracked and giving like 50 dollars. They have some other company do the evaluations.

I have 3 pixel 6's but on the fence if I want to risk it. I know two people who both got minimum trade-ins from Google and both phones were mint.

Check how to use battery saver. Set it to 70 or 80 persent and enable only apps you really need

Definitely something nefarious involved. If the product is free, the product is you.

But how does trading in a Pixel 6 to get a Pixel 7 for just the cost of tax make any sense? They have access to your data already with the Pixel 6.
Very good point. They do similar things with Apple too.

Perhaps there are write-offs for "marketing" and "promotion" offers? Perhaps they recycle these old, but very modern phones into government programs? Are these phones handed out as refurbished and "free", and the government pays Google them?

Probably a stupid question, but is this worth the hassle and cost (60 bucks or whatever) to upgrade from the 6 to 7?

It sounds like the refund from trade in might take a few weeks (maybe longer during the holidays?)

Is the upgrade worth it? Thanks!

Except on all recent trade-ins, they're accepting Pixel 5a's and Pixel 4a 5G's. I was on Google's site earlier today (Thanksgiving), and they were offering me $325 off the Pixel 7 Pro with my Pixel 4a 5G trade-in. So not sure they're not accepting the 6a because they're trying to phase out the "a" series. If that was the case, they wouldn't be accepting the older models either.

Can you trade in Pixel 6 that's still under carrier contract?
I need to know this too. I am getting tired of my Pixel 6 losing network connectivity. I either can't make calls or my calls get dropped in my own home. I have to use Wi-Fi calling and that's not reliable either. No-one else in my household has a Pixel 6 and do not have any problems with making or receiving calls.
