They ensure someone keeps giving them access to all their private data, which the user agreement when you set up the device guarantees. Your data is worth a small fortune. Google didn't become a goliath selling phones.

interesting the Pixel 6a is not on the trade-in list. Many of us have the Pixel 6a on the way from other trade in deals that made if nearly free in the past few days.

Pixel 4a 5g is still working great (with battery life lags), but I can't turn down the $325 trade-in credit for a two year old phone.

I would also love a superfan code!

whats the benefit of 7 over 6? I looked up comparisons and they look very similar. is it worth the hassle of moving everything over and setting everything up?
For 20 bucks you're getting a phone that has an extra year of software updates and would have a higher resale value the next time you trade in or sell. A lot of reviews are also saying the 7 fixes a lot of common issues with the 6. At the very least it's a refined version of the 6 with an updated chip and selfie camera

I'm happy with my Pixel 6. It's a great phone after receiving all the OTA updates. However, I don't see many advantages of the Pixel 7 over the Pixel 6.
1) Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch screen, and the Pixel 7 is 6.3. I like larger.
2) Pixel 6 has 4,614 mAh, Pixel 7 has 4,355 mAh. In my case, I need more battery life.
3) Pixel 6 has Tensor CPU, while Pixel 7 has G2. Its AI chip is mostly in camera functionality. I'm OK with the Pixel 6 camera. It takes excellent pictures.
4) Front Camera: 8MP/10.8 MP. I have seen enough of MP wars.
5) Zoom: 7x/8x. Not noticeable.

With taxes included, I have to shell out another $55 for a new phone. My Pixel 6 is just six months old. I also paid an additional $22 for the Pixel 6 OEM case. Finally, I need to reinvest for the Pixel 7 case, an additional $30. So overall $85 for not so impressive upgrade. Long live Pixel 6.

Google is the king of data collection. They harvest everything to aid in their manipulation, or, they sell to others that plan to do the same. The Apple ecosystem is more regulated, more secure, and less invasive...which isn't to say they're saints, just the best of all options.

That said, I was commenting on why it's nearly free, because data mining is their business. Apple isn't giving away iPhone 14s for nearly free with a 13 trade in. Why? Well, they don't make their money primarily on data, they make it on hardware, because they can, because they're better in terms of performance, stability, reliability, privacy, and resale value.

I think of it as paying $100 for the phone to last another year. $20 cost + $50 tax + $30 for case and screen protector.

Glad to read your thoughts too. Cheers

CPU and GPU performance, value retention, and incidence of malware and app/OS exploits are objective metrics where iPhone and iOS are demonstratively superior to android generation over generation. At least Apple sycophants are such meritoriously lol. Android fanbois are are like people that show up to cheer for a losing team, year after year. There's a version of honor to it, but it's also absurd at it's core.

not very slick if you're paying $20-30 for a case.

going from 6 to 7 brings the value of your phone back up.

if you get a superfan code, you're actually making money on the deal.

battery is slightly smaller but supposed better battery management and slightly smaller screen means its probably same if not better than 6.
