Why is this console being pushed so hard besides the price? I just "explored" game pass ultimate library online and didn't find a single game on there I want to play besides Forza 5 which I already own physical disk. Why isn't the disk version getting any discounts or love? I only play 3-4 different games a year. Game pass doesn't fit my agenda.

I almost bought at target for the 249.99/gift card.. but I stumbled across the Microsoft website.. showing 189.99 Friday.. I built my console and it went to 239.99 I tried a few times and eventually 189.99 went through at checkout. Any idea why? I saw something about an Instagram deal..
If you can get target to price match Walmart, their pos should still trigger the gift card
Just remember the Series S only plays digital games which means you have to buy them from Microsoft which means they are rarely at a discount. If I had it to do over I would have bought the X so I could buy games on sale Target/BestBuy etc. Plus you could always borrow a physical disc from someone to try a game

Yeah don't know what you're talking about, the Microsoft store has titles on sale quite frequently discounted anywhere from 15-80%. What you mean to say is the games you want to buy at a particular time aren't being sold at a discount.

If you didn't find any games except Forza 5 that you like, then you may not have interest in the games available for the Xbox series. It would not matter if you got a Series S or a Series X at that point...
As for why retailers are pushing the Series S so much, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps there is more inventory of the Series S, so more to sell? For the price, many think it's a very affordably-priced console. But if it doesn't have the games someone wants, it is not a good deal.
Buy series S, go to Costco and get up to 3 12-month live gold cards for $55/ea, redeem. Then activate "try game pass for $1" to convert the live gold to up to 36 mo of game pass.
I did 2 years, so figure I'd have 2 years of game pass for about $110. Cheaper than buy 2 new titles. No need to worry about discs

I have xbox ONE X and play MW2, Vanguard, Halo Infinite, Forza 5, Riders Republic and crash team racing with no problems. It's my main box for tv streaming too. I see no reason to buy the next gen xbox systems at this point. My gut tells me the current gen of xbox consoles might be similar to the WII U when its all said and done.

Yeah I guess you could say that, the popular games that are on sale at the big stores usually are not on sale through Microsoft….yeah some older games are on discount

I've heard others say something similar. The #1 reasons to get the Xbox Series S or X would be the speed of loading games (from very fast solid-state drives) and the quick resume feature. Those were the compelling options for me. It's just so much faster to load and continue playing the games with the latest generation.
If that doesn't matter to you, then there's no reason to upgrade. I appreciate how many of the games play just fine on the prior generation as well (Xbox One X). It just requires a bit more time to load the games before play can start.

For those without Costco membership, the $250 deal from Target (w/ $50 gift card) is the absolute best deal.
