$10 digital Amazon gift card included. Not a bad deal for those that don't want to wait and see if it drops down further in December.

It's not junk depending on what you need. For us Turbotax deluxe* is very easy to use with our particular Schedule C business and easily imports our brokerage account information. I tried H&R block one year and I could not get it to properly calculate our business tax credits even after opening a support ticket.

Also - an FYI for those that used TaxAct, H&R Block or TaxSlayer online services in previous years: There is a good chance they secretly sent data about you to Meta\Facebook:

*In previous years there were some abilities you'd get with the physical disk that weren't included in the download copy. I haven't looked this year to see if that is still the case or not
Cause Intuit, maker of TurboTax, and other tax prep software companies have paid off Congress to make sure they don't allow this to happen. It's been contemplated for years and years.
Paid $30 last year, will it get cheaper than this $36 net?

I paid $30 the last couple of years at Amazon between Christmas and New Years, also wondering if that deal will be available again or to pull the trigger on this.

I thought last year’s $30 deal did not include a state?

In what ways is it better?
No fee for application itself
No fee for Fed File
Cheaper State File (14.99 vs 29.95)
Same User friendly website with same deductions
Deluxe Upgrade is 7.99 vs 49.99+

Has anyone independently tested and confirmed that? The cost isn't as big of a deal to me (although I know it is for a lot of people), and I'd rather save a lot of headache. I don't have the patience of my youth anymore. 👴

Look if you want to say it is cheaper, then say it. But it isn't better by any means.

Are you sure, I don't recall that. The online version is different from the CD/download versions. I remember one year, a common form (Sched.C?) wasn't included in the Deluxe but after an uproar they added it back in to an update. Memory is fuzzy, though.

I believe the CD and DL versions are the same. The online version is crippled.

Will Deluxe allow a user to log into their brokerage account and download/import the 1099 info, like Premier can do? I have seen wildly different answers in the past.

I used Deluxe version last year and it allowed me to import 1099 consolidated information such as trades, dividends, etc.

I've never had a problem with this with Deluxe, other than waiting until they post the data.

Yes I switched to deluxe some years ago. Premiere is really only for those with rental incomes (depreciation and such) and some business stuff. And you get better support. Deluxe will be $25ish between now and Feb. Fidelity also gives you free premiere if you are $1million+ but probably a lot of people aren't there anymore Frown
