This is too high a price for the last Gen Ryzen CPU . This also may indicate that this is a 2021 model not a 2022 model and there were some important improvements in heat management etc made in 2022. I got the 2022 Asus M16 with current (for mobile) Intel CPU with Nvidia 3070 and 512gb ssd for $1230 open box excellent at BB a couple of weeks ago. Yes the GPU and the SSD are slightly lower level but it is a 2022 model and has current Gen CPU and costs almost $500 less.

Got excited until I saw this: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asu...html#toc-9

The verdict says the TDP being so low makes this sometimes perform worse than a 3070.

I've got the 3070 version of this with the same CPU. Thermals are fantastic, battery life is decent if you're using it for some work in between gaming usage. Speakers aren't bad for a Windows laptop either, it's better than most gaming laptops. CPU performance is ridiculous, I can encode video faster than a desktop i7 from a few years ago. Yes, the GPUs are lower TDP, but you're trading size and heat as this is not meant to be a gaming desktop replacement. It's 4-5ish lbs. It replaced a giant gaming laptop and a work MacBook pro to be a slim and lightweight compromise between the two. I got it when it first came out a year and a half ago and it's the longest I've owned a laptop in a long time. I don't see anything better coming down the line for a long time, so I just upped mine to 24GB and 2x2TB Nvme drives.

The g15 strix with the 6800m consistently beats this.

Wow, a 6800M beats a 3080? That's impressive but also understandable if TDPs are all messed up.

The Strix is a step up from the Zephyrus in ASUS' lineup, right?

The mobile cards are allot closer then the desktop cards. I got the g15 AE for my GF. It's benching equal to a full power 6700 XT desktop card. And it absolutely clobbers my 3080 laptop in any real world usage situation where we game for 3 or 4 hours.

I think it's mostly a power management/thermal thing though. She uses it for work and school and consistently gets 8-10 hours of battery life. I've turned it on silent mode and turned the fans off and turned settings to medium and played stuff like borderlands for a couple hours unplugged.

A full power 3080m at 160 watts with a top tier cooling solution should handily and consistently beat a 6800m by 5-25%.

I can't be the only one who raises their eyebrows when they see a $1700 laptop with only 16GB of RAM. It's like $50 Asus, just tack 16 more on.

Just wanna say that I own this exact laptop, had it for a little over a year. Heard a bit static pop and it does yesterday, a couple days out of warranty...

It has performed very well although battery life is less than advertised (ofc) and had some issues with the ports not working sometimes.

Just gonna buy a Dell laptop next since they are #1 in reliability and that's what I need right now.

Strix are more gaming oriented while the Zephyrus is more of a compromise between form and function. Zephyrus is above the Strix in Asus' lineup.
