They are good as an adjunct to regular floss. But many people use it incorrectly (miss spots or have it on too high).
Try buying higher quality floss that is less prone to shredding.
Yes I am a dentist and no I am not being paid to sell Waterpiks.

These are great for people that hated to floss. I had 7 weeks of radiation earlier this year so I pretty much have zero saliva in my mouth. What I didn't realize is how important saliva is to naturally flushing out your teeth. I use this after every meal and it does a great job.

They all do the same thing of blasting out food stuck in your teeth. So yes, different models would be different price tags, but just get the cheapest one that looks similar (or even the tiny portable one).

You should still floss manually to wipe off the plaque, and go in with a super soft toothbrush (i.e. Nimbus) to get at plaque along the gumline.

This looks like it will take up half my tiny countertop. Aren't the cordless versions much smaller?

So should I get one of these or just floss with regular floss more?

Used this for like a year. Worked well, no issues. My plug placement is my bathroom sucks so it kinda made this a pain to use though.

I've since switched to a hand held version that seems to do just as good of a job incase that would be an issue for others.

Isn't a cheap non-name brand water floss machine only $20 on Amazon?

e.g.
https://www.amazon.com/Cordless-W...09XJSMBCV/ $27
https://www.amazon.com/Tovendor-E...07R9ZR45J/ $15.56

I'm confused because of all these different models. Anyone care to explain the hierarchy of the models please and reps.

I beg to differ. I started using waterless three years ago, and it's a life changer. It's easy to use and my teeth are bright clean with everyday coffee and tea use. I don't go to dentists, never have inbmany years. Other than genetic decay, teeth are super clean. Thread floss never worked and it was so difficult to do.

How high it should be? I thought the higher the better
Lots of patients turn the setting up too high. The gums can develop sclerosis over extended use. I recommend starting at the low setting first.

It's a decent price. Why not. It's better than not flossing.
If you have had lots of fillings done in the past and they weren't smooth in the interproximals, they can cause floss shredding btw.
