What a deal!
I own 2 of these and they're amazing. Bought them new for $499. Once you understand the phone app, it makes it so much easier.
I saw this renewed piece for $249.99 before, so at this price it's a no brainer.

Vacuum wars does great reviews on robotic vacuums. To your point, the app can take some getting used to but works well!

I bought this through woot last week for same price. Arriving tomorrow.

Any reason at all to get through Amazon? I know Amazon owns woot, so I'm assuming not.

I would imagine that customer service through Amazon would be more forgiving if you have any problems. Outside of that, I don't think there is a difference.

How's this compared to the new 200 dollar Neato d8?

I have a couple of Neato D7's and I think they are the best robot vacuums out there that can actually clean carpet. They roll over anything, it seems. High pile bath mats are not an issue for them like other brands. They will gladly eat up several Nerf darts before the brush throws a stuck error code. They do not self clean but they do have really large bins. You can also place toilet paper over the filter every time you empty the bin to make it last longer. They work perfectly if you have a high shedding dog. Each time they run the bin is always completely full of dog hair. I alternate each D7 so that they run every other day. I have one on each side of the house. My house is 3,800 sqft single story and it can cover the entire house with only having to recharge 1 time during the cleaning cycle. The app is probably the most disappointing part. It is hard to get them setup and map the house but once it is mapped, it is mapped. I am not sure about the D8 but the D7 can create zones. I mostly don't even mess with the app anymore. If the vacuum gets stuck somewhere, it will send a notification with its location so that it is easier to find. Anyway, I highly recommend the Neato. They also sell different styles of brushes. I have one that is specifically for dog hair and it works well. That one will not eat up a Nerf Dart though. If you look at them online, you'll see why. Anyway, good luck with your decision. There are a lot of choices out there.
